If I was the Board Chair of AIMCO, I would not have recommended this. @ewsiddall acquits himself well, but the Op-Ed is a sore point. It was Kevin's tone deaf and self-serving Op-Ed in this very same paper that set off an angry reaction focused on him. #ABLeg #handsoffmypension

The Second Mountain is an appropriate analogy here. But after 2 years of Travis and company denying that there is a problem with AIMCO, I think we have more time in the valley letting old parts die before moving on. #AbLeg #handsoffmypension

The valley of despair definitely includes, but is not limited to, the VOLTS losses; if you are going to allocute to bad facts you had better get them all out. VOLTS was bad, but in my mind AIMCO conspiring with the UCP to lay waste to "arms-length corp" was far worse. #AbLeg

So in addition to VOLTS, I really think @ewsiddall should have mentioned that previous management together with the GOA moved AB public sector pensions FURTHER away from the (rightly) vaunted Canadian pension model. #AbLeg #handsoffmypension

If you are going to come clean you might as well come all the way. @ewsiddall hints at this without doing the full monty:

Dude, I totally agree. But this is precisely why the UCP hate public sector pension plans. Pension plans have an important role our economy that is often not well understood.

For most teachers and nurses their retirement saving is the largest asset they own. Imagine how angry they were when they realized that they had no influence on AIMCO it is wholly owned by the GOA.

It is cathartic in a way to see the pension plans as trustees recognized as the clients here. Because everyone, except Travis, is clear they are the ones that are equipped to make decisions in the plan's best interest. #AbLeg #handsoffmypension
