Context on how "terrorism" discourse is PURE IDEOLOGY: in 2018 @ronenbergman revealed that senior @IDF officers created & ran #terrorist group that killed 100s of civilians in Lebanon in 1980s. This has been greeted w/ TOTAL media silence & ZERO answer from the Israeli government
In 1981 the Israeli military censor (how often do we hear, in US, about existence of that censorship system?) killed story by 2 @YediotAhronot journalists that would have revealed the whole thing. And still, ONLY Palestinians are ever called "terrorists"
In his book, @ronenbergman describes IN DETAIL how Ariel Sharon played a DIRECT role in a 2-week car bombing campaign that killed at least 200 civilians in Sept-Oct 1981! Somehow THIS has been deemed NOT newsworthy by US media:
Acc to Bergman's ISRAELI sources, this terrorist campaign by Sharon aimed to provoke the PLO into using terrorism, thus giving Israel an excuse to invade Lebanon in the name of .... fighting terrorism! THIS is somehow NOT newsworthy & the terrorism discourse remains unchallenged!
What will it take for the US media to finally write about Israeli terrorism? After all, Israeli journalists may very well be unable to cover these issues (because of censorship & gag orders) but this is NOT the case for American journalists: See:
Today @IDF signed military order to act on decision to list Pal Orgs as "terrorist" in West Bk. IMAGINE if, in 2018, US journos had asked ISR to confirm or deny that @IDF officers conducted their own terrorist campaign in Lebanon/asked about decision to CENSOR that story in 1981
IMAGINE if, because AMERICAN journalists were asking those questions, Israeli citizens & journalists had been able to circumvent censorship laws & been able to put pressure on their own government to investigate these claims & hold the (alleged) terrorists accountable!!
IMAGINE if all of this had happened: How credible, then, would Israel & the IDF have been had they decided, WITHOUT presenting any proof, to list 6 major Palestinian civil society organizations as "terrorists"??? THIS is why the SILENCE about Bergman's revelations matters so much

I wish Ronen Bergman would finally decide to talk or write about these revelations (from his own book!) & I truly wonder what would happen if he did: Would he get "canceled"? Or would other journalists suddenly feel they had cover & could "safely" write about Israeli terrorism?
For ex: Would Tom Friedman, who covered several car bombings in the 1980s (when he got his Pulitzer!) that Bergman revealed in 2018 were covertly conducted by Israel suddenly find these revelations newsworthy/ suddenly find the courage to write about this?
I did a Thread about whether censorship & self-censorship may explain absolute silence of US media about these revelations. I am starting to think that no US media outlet will dare touch this topic UNTIL Bergman himself decides to write / talk about it ...

10/01/1981: 40 years ago TODAY: Massive car bomb explodes in front of PLO offices in Beirut. 83 are killed. The street is mangled with body parts. Other bombs are defused. A mysterious group called the Front for the Liberation of Lebanon from Foreigners claims responsibility 1/
This is just the latest in series of extraordinarily deadly car bombings that started 2 weeks earlier. Hundreds of Palestinian & Lebanese civilians are killed. At the time, it is the deadliest car bombing campaign in history. All are claimed by that mysterious group, the FLLF 2/

It's been 49 days. 49 busy days. And yet somehow the Biden administration still has NOT reversed Trump's Executive Order that threatens sanctions, monetary penalties & imprisonment on persons who assist the ICC!
This is shameful. And so revealing.
One way to think of terrorism is that it is the peacetime equivalent of war crimes. Opposing the ICC (as Israel does, as the US has done: see the Hague Invasion Act!!!) is a clear indication that "we" are NOT opposed to terrorism at all: we want impunity for "our terrorists" 2/
The car bombing described below was conducted by the CIA, Great Britain, Saudi Arabia & Israel. It killed 80 civilians in March, 1985. There has of course never been any accountability for this crime. Nor any acknowledgement of our responsibility!!! 3/
