#SupremeCourt is hearing a plea by ex-fortis promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh against Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) timeline stating that it would need four more months to complete the probe in the fund embezzlement case
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for Delhi Police says a reply has been filed yesterday in the case
Earlier SG had opposed the matter being taken up as a fresh plea in High Court again and said he wanted to dispel the wrong impression created by the accused and referred to the enormity of the scam saying the amount involved is over ₹ 1,500 crore.
ASG KM Natraj: we will be able to complete the investigation by January end, we have stated this in affidavit
SC: What about bail. we have two options that you take 2 months and not more than that or send it back to HC. SG did not agree that is why we listed the case today
SC: We will give you two months and finish investigation within that time and then consider bail. Or else approach the High court and take a decision.
ASG: Why cannot it go back to trial court?
SC: We don't want to go back there. You submit your final report by Nov end.
CJI: we are not on merits and we are not on 2,000 crores or 20,000 crores.
Sr Adv Basant: investigation as such is not complete..
CJI: Probe cannot be going indefinitely.... it has been two years. so should we allow him to be there for 10 years.
Basant: its embezzlement
CJI: We will only grant time till November end to wrap up investigation.
List the matter on December 1 or 2nd. Meanwhile SG submits that the probe will be completed
