I spent a lot of time around Military people back in the day. Was even engaged to one once. :)
If you know people in the military, you know they often travel in packs. :)
My apt in college was their refuges (I was two blocks from the bars & across from the girls' dorms :))
1/
3 of us were dating Marines at the time & w them came all their friends. LOL
We had 1 rule. No girls in my apt overnight, but the guys could come to get away on weekends or the 72s & 96s.
In return, they always fully mustered my apt on Sundays (so they could come back)
2/
Was like having a large group of brothers. They took care of us when our boyfriends were deployed & we sent them care packages when they were deployed themselves.
Have so many wonderful memories of the time we spent.
Silly times, drunk times, fun times, sad times...
3/
We were always there for each other .. and they loved to hang out at my house (remember bars and girls were close by LOL)
One night they had a recall about 1 in the morning. That night recall meant every soldier had 3 hrs to get back to base for possible deployment.
4/
One of our friends missed his ride, so we drove him back to base about 90 mins away. (Missing recall is HUGE)
[Scary time when your friends get recalled for possible unknown deployment.]
So we get back to my apartment, think it was around 5am or 6am.
I get a call...
5/
A very loud, direct voice was on the other end.
It barked -- "ARE CORPORALS SO AND SO AND SO AND SO THERE?"
I had no idea who this was...
"Um may I ask who this is?"
He tells me he is the duty at the barracks looking for two Marines that did not make it back yet....
6/
Tell him I have no idea who those people are, but even more curiously --
ME.
"How did you get my number?"
USMC.
"Mam, it says in the top of the duty book --
If you cannot find a Marine, call Kristine
-- w your number!"
So many memories.
So many stories to tell, but too much for #Twitter
I just remember those guys seeming so grown up back then.
Years later, I was at an Irish Pub & a group of Marines were celebrating before they deployed to one of the ME Wars (don't remember which one).
8/
And I remember thinking how young they looked now.
And they were deploying to places unknown to futures uncertain and in that moment I appreciated so much more than I even did then, and I did back then, just how much we ask of our soldiers at such a young age.
9/
So to every Veteran today, we salute your service. Your sacrifices and the sacrifices of your friends and family to keep us safe to protect this country.
For all you have done.
For all we ask.
We can never say thank you enough.

@GovSisolak@AaronDFordNV@ClarkCountyNV Why do we allow Hotels/Casinos or any business, to charge their employees to park in garages, they own, for work? That should be illegal. They are taking pay out of their workers mouths so they do not have to pay full wages
And while we are at it we need laws limiting parking garage fees. I went to visit friends on Downtown this weekend and nowhere was it displayed they raised it to $50! $50 for 3 hours of parking. I spent $32 for 4 hours on two Caesar's properties the day before.
It's obscene.
2/
Does not even cover what locals are being charged for event parking at Allegiant - I have seen receipts from friends of $100-$150 to park! That only hurts locals.
Why should someone with a car be penalized $150 to see a show? This is not acceptable.
.@MSNBC I really wish you would cover the real issue with the Democratic party and that is one messaging but two they don't understand digital media and I don't mean campaigning digital I mean literally hardcore digital marketing.
1/
That lie machine that has everybody with a blue check sharing the same things by 7 in the morning is not an accident.
And it is done with massive social media marketing campaigns. But all the stuff that they do to push the lies can be done with the truth too.
2/
We're talking about black hat digital marketing (black hat does not mean hacking & is not illegal) it just means the platforms don't like it.
@SteveSchmidtSES@MalcolmNance I never finished my PhD because I ran out of money but I did everything but the dissertation but a my first attempt at the dissertation I studied political language in the 2000-2004 elections.
1/
@SteveSchmidtSES@MalcolmNance The GOP used simplified metaphoric language that attaches to people's personal metaphors. It was the first time that standard political framing was broken. The first time it wasn't used in modern elections if I remember correctly....
2/
@SteveSchmidtSES@MalcolmNance The simplified metaphorical language used terms like love which most people won't try to define any further than what their own personal interpretation of love is.
3/
There is a group of accounts on @Twitter trying to affect the Kyle Rittenhouse Trial by spreading falsehoods about the sequence of events and what occurred.
I have included screenshots and video so you can determine it for yourself.
๐งต Thread
__
These accounts will say a guy chased him, threw something, & he shot him, but that is false. The first shooting was not self-defense
NOTE the guy who chased him threw a PLASTIC BAG likely because KR was running across a parking lot w a gun. KR never turns his weapon on him.
1/
1. Kyle runs across parking lot towards a group behind a few cars.
Person running after him is NOT who he shot.
HERE is the sequence of events.
What they also need is a team hardcore digital media marketers to push the message because that's where we lose every time.
The right is a well oiled machine.
The Dems aren't & that's how they lose every time.
1/
I don't mean an ad ad agency. I don't mean a political consulting group. I don't mean a PR group. I mean actual hardcore digital marketers and I don't even think theb@dnc know what that actually means. I do because I work in that space & I see how they lose every time.
2/
The fake account networks that tell the lies in the middle of the night to get them trending by the East Coast breakfast. The same message repeated in social by every blue check account to make sure that lie is visible and trending everywhere at once.

@curaffairs The author doesn't know enough about search to have written that article and the reason he's having those problems is AI algos like Rank Brain and Google's attempts to use natural language processing nothing to do with SEOs.
1/x
@curaffairs YMYL is not evaluated at the site level, but the query level.
Again this is on Google, not SEOs because they want to surface better sites.
And those devaluations are part of Core Updates which SEOs like me recover sites from.

@curaffairs Featured Snippets are not optimized for - you can use certain HTML to be pulled in one but there is no definite use case where Featured Snippets are shown or that your site's will show for it. Also doesn't always come from the #1 result.
