I ride #SlayerPete to my office in DC, for errands, and, yes, for exercise. While #Arlington#Virginia has a great network of paths and trails, it still lacks the kind of secure bike storage/parking recently opened at the East Falls Church Metro @wmata.
In fact, safe/secure bike parking/storage is the biggest impediment to me using my #ebike even more.
But #Arlington#Virginia needs protected bike lanes - like they have in Vienna.
I do appreciate this wide bike bridge in Arlington though.
Does @ArlingtonVA plan to apply for dedicated funds under the #InfrastructureBill to enhance bike infrastructure? These funds can be used for bike parking/storage. The county needs secure 🚲 storage/parking in Clarendon, Ballston, Rosslyn, Courthouse, Shirlington, & Pentagon City
2/ I read lots of reviews in advance and expected to cry and find it cathartic on some level. I sniffled a couple of times but it was more of a delightful trip back to the reasons I boarded the Pete Train and never looked back.
3/ Some of the reviews I read in advance suggested that the documentary portrayed the struggles of Pete to "open up" or that it showed sides of Pete that most people didn't know existed. No on both counts for me.

As a gay man, the parallels between the early years of the AIDS epidemic and our current #COVID pandemic r many. Then, as now, there are hostile govs making the situation worse. Reagan never uttered the word AIDS until pressured by the death of his friend, Rock Hudson.
His administration was populated w/homophobes who were indifferent to gay men dying from a disease transmitted primarily thru sex. There was widespread public fear/hostility, too. Many hospitals isolated AIDS patients, even demeaning them as they died.
Most of all, there was so much public stigma directed at people w/HIV-AIDS. So much fear. So much ignorance. Gay men, the primary early victims, were left to suffer alone. Even now, those at risk from #COVID r mocked. washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/09…
Thread/fil #LeadersDebate Thoughts from an American/Réfléchis d'un Américain
I'm glad I watched last night's Leaders' Debate in English in Canada. The difference between the 2 debates extended far beyond language - even though language also played a role in how each played out.

Canada has a debates commission similar on some level to ours. I'd say that they messed up last night. The English-language debate moderators were, well, very American in their approach.
#LeadersDebate#CanadaVotes#elexn44
They asked long questions and they tried to be provocative; the French-language moderators from the previous night asked short questions and tried to keep themselves out of the limelight.
To all those pontificating from afar on 🇮🇱🇵🇸:
1)What percentage of Israeli Jews come from/are descended from Arab countries? 2) What is the difference between Shas and United Torah Judaism? 3) Name the 3 parties that make up the largely Palestinian Joint List in the Knesset.
4) Describe the platforms of the 3 parties that make up the largely Palestinian Joint List in the Knesset. 5) What Arab social-political (outside of Israel) is Mansour Abbas and his party most closely associated with? 6) Describe the differences between Fatah and Hamas.
7) Name a Palestinian feminist organization. 8) Name a Palestinian LGBTQ organization (not a trick question). 9) Who are Mizrachi Jews? 10) Who are the Druze? 11) Name the quarters of the Old City of Jerusalem.
