๐ Global Competency Standards for #HealthWorkers will provide quality, culturally sensitive care to migrants and refugees, a ๐ step towards achieving #HealthForAll, including for people on the move.
#HealthForAll requires:
โ health systems to include migrants and refugees
โ #HealthWorkers able to provide people-centred, culturally sensitive care that is respectful of a personโs cultural, religious, and linguistic needs
Communication barriers between #HealthWorkers and migrants and refugees may have an impact on a personโs full understanding of healthcare interactions, limiting their access to health information and quality care.
To better care for migrants & refugees, #HealthWorkers need support, resources, & equipment to be able to address culture, beliefs, values, & biases as well as institutional discrimination.

Great news: The 13th #Ebola outbreak that started on 8 October in #DRCโs ๐จ๐ฉ North Kivu Province has been declared over. No new cases were reported at the end of a 42-day countdown.
11 cases (8 confirmed, 3 probable), including 9 deaths and 2 survivors were reported in the #Ebola outbreak that occurred in the same province as the 2018 outbreak that lasted 2 years and the 2021 outbreak that ended in May.
More than 1800 people were vaccinated in a campaign that started 5 days after the first case was detected. For the first time, licensed vaccines against #Ebola were used from the ICG-managed global stockpile of Ebola vaccines, with support from @gavi

@DrTedros "77 countries have now reported cases of Omicron, and the reality is that Omicron is probably in most countries, even if it hasnโt been detected yet. Omicron is spreading at a rate we have not seen with any previous variant"-@DrTedros#COVID19
@DrTedros "Weโre concerned that people are dismissing Omicron as mild. Surely, we have learned by now that we underestimate this virus at our peril. Even if Omicron does cause less severe disease, the sheer number of cases could once again overwhelm unprepared health systems"-@DrTedros
