NDP health critic David Shepherd says he's glad the UCP heeded their call to expand boosters and to get more rapid tests into Albertans hands.

But says not reversing decision to allow unvaccinated people to gather is "reckless"
Shepherd says the NDP is not calling for hard lock downs, but asks why Alberta is doing less than other provinces.
"Where is that modelling?"

Shepherd says he wants to know why Albertans aren't able to see the provincial COVID modelling, nor the recommendations put forward by Dr. Hinshaw.
Shepherd says that paid sick leave is the most important policy to have now in order to let people stay home if they feel symptoms.

Q!

Why just ask people to limit their contacts instead of rules?

Kenney says we already have robust measures and 90% of adult population with first dose.

Adds asking that people look at their own activity, helpful to give them those parameters.
Kenney says all cabinet meetings are going online.

Says he's avoiding parties he's been invited to.

Says Oilers game had 1/3 empty seats at last game, indicating people are already taking precautions.
Is this going to be enough?

Kenney says they are doing what's necessary based on info right now, but are willing to act if needed.

Adds we will see important data coming from South Africa, etc in the next week or 2 about sever outcomes and hospitalizations.

Notley says having a consistent set of rules for those who have been vaccinated makes sense, but opening them up to those who continue to refuse to do that does not make sense.
Notley says if your concern is that you don't think people will like the rules and won't follow them if you make a rule, then why make the rules.

Says Premier Kenney is spinning his wheels, making political decisions.

#yeg #Yyc #ableg #COvid19ab
Kenney says we need to face up on impacts on children's mental well-being, increased drug issues, domestic violence and other things that come from restrictions.
Q2!

If things get worse, how will that impact bringing in more measures knowing not everyone would follow them?

Why loosening gathering limits now when feds/doctors say its risky?

Kenney says he doesn't accept the premise of the question, says Alberta still has the strictest gathering limits in Canada.

#yeg #Yyc #ableg #Covd19ab
Kenney says rules on paper that aren't observed just undermine the health measures.

Reality is, families will gather at Xmas and believes this is a more realistic approach.
Why are you confident Albertans will follow these measures?

Kenney says most people want to do the right thing- points to how Albertans crushed the fourth wave over the past 3 months.
