9. OF COURSE I'm going to mention #CLOUDCITY at #MWC21. We took over @Ericsson’s booth and #publiccloud took over the show! It marked a turning point in #telco, the public cloud is here! Watch my keynote all about it:
8. The biggest public cloud anti-pattern has to be @Rakuten and operator 1&1 who are building a virtualized #mobile network on #OpenRAN on a #privatecloud which will cost 2x as much as it needs to. Not recommended. 👎
7. “..future #BT is going to run on the cloud and a big part of that is going to be on the #publiccloud.” Love the boldness of @HarmeenM@BTGroup and proof that even the world’s oldest #telco can change. I wonder what @neilmcrae thinks of that? 🤔
6. @Verizon is the first telco to complete the trifecta of hyperscaler agreements for their edge:
🥇@Azure with Stack Edge
🥈 @awscloud and Outposts
🥉 @googlecloud with Distributed Cloud
5. Love the gauntlet being thrown by Aussie #telco@Telstra’s #T25 strategy of having 90% of its applications running in #publiccloud by 2025 to achieve 1/2 a billion in savings. This is a business-wide transformation that will drive #customerlove. 💜
3. Another mainstream hit for #publiccloud: @ATT sells its Network Cloud to #Microsoft#AzureForOperators in a deal that saw @Microsoft gain access to IP, talent, and assets. It’s the mega-deals like this that prove the public cloud has come to telco. 👏
2. This one blew the roof off @AWSreInvent! Two words: #Private#5G. Hassle-free procurement, managed services, PAYG. What’s not to love? Telcos - make it easy as pie to integrate with your network and you can do this too! 🥧
Simply put: the key to Totogi's amazing performance is the public cloud.
@totogi is the first charging engine to be designed and engineered from the ground up assuming public cloud. (In this case, @awscloud is the public cloud)
Most charging engines that are being ported to the public cloud, which claim to be "cloud-native," are based on a tech stack of Kubernetes and a relational db. This is a HUGE liability compared to what @totogi designed.
When I announced that I was investing $100 million into @Totogi, everyone wanted to know:
-Why so much, so soon?
Here are 3 good reasons to invest $100m in @Totogi.
Let's start with the most important reason:
We want to build a great product company and not be hostage to tier 1 CSPs. Simple.
The standard playbook for a telco software startup is getting a pilot at a tier 1 and raising a round of funding off that. Every VC wants to see tier 1 traction, so the CEOs sell their soul to get deals with tier 1s.
