A friend's veteran father passed away last year due to Covid. Was shocked to hear of the harassment her octagenarian mother had to face in the hands of petty officials including a retired officer for processing some of her documents. First bad experience was at ECHS LODHI RD
2/ It took endless rounds to submit the claim documents. The woman at the counter was consistently sullen, rude and petty. She would come up with a new requirement every time and then insist she'd told the same last time & it's my friend who must have forgotten
3/ The claim hasn't come through it's been six months. Recently they got a message saying pl submit more documents. When they called, were told death certificate was missing but ultimately they (polyclinic) managed to find it! So obviously the claim is still lying at Polyclinic.
4/ In contrast the much maligned Delhi Govt acted with commendable speed, traced them on its own and issued compensation announced for all Covid victims without them having to move a finger. And we consider ourselves efficient.
5/ For the canteen card she was made to run around by the OIC ESM Canteen Gurugram a Col Yadav. His behaviour was rude & arrogant as if doing a favour. He even insisted on copy of ESM card of the lady, although that's not among the documents required. He refused to submit ....
6/ The application till someone in AHQ was approached and requested to intervene. Getting the ESM card was another exercise - it took three trips and finally phone call by someone in MoD to get it made.
7/ If these are the travails of an officer's widow, one shudders to think what those of lower ranks must be going through. All because of the arrogance, petty mindedness& laziness of lower staff interfacing with them. This can be addressed by seeking feedback from every widow...
8/ after such interactions. Feedback should be monitored and frontline service providers held accountable for quality of service provided. Right now they're acting like masters lording over helpless widows who need to get their work done.

@airtelindia@Airtel_Presence my daughter's SIM has just stopped working. The Airtel Store tells her that she can't get a new one with the same number!! How can you allow this to happen, specially since the number is linked to her account. Highly negligent service
Firstly what is your accountability for the number stopping suddenly? Has it been hacked? What is the safety of her accounts? All the OTP etc come on that number.
#GalwanValley which has been in the eye of the storm was the backdrop for another standoff prior to the 1962 Indo-China War. It began in July 1962 when 400 Chinese soldiers surrounded the Indian post in the valley. India lodged a protest with China....
The Indian post with a strength of approximately 50 was besieged by a much larger Chinese force. India reiterated it's claim over #GalwanValley
PM Nehru who was "holidaying in Kashmir" was kept informed of the situation. Meanwhile China lodged a counter protest, alleging Indian intrusion on their territory.

Particularly interesting to compare vis a vis current situation
Will be tweeting extracts I find relevant
"Social media, I understood, had opened up for individuals vital spaces of communication once controlled exclusively by the state.”
“extraordinary ability of social media to endow ordinary individuals, frequently noncombatants, with the power to change the course of both the physical battlefield and the discourse around it.”
@PravinSawhney@cyrushavo 1/ Leading from the forefront has been the hallmark of Indian Army. Loss of CO does NOT disintegrate the battalion/unit - the next in line steps in and takes over. Pick up any war and look at the number of COs killed in action. All three COs at Namkachu were killed/captured in 62
@PravinSawhney@cyrushavo 2/ Lt Col Sampuran Singh, CO 19 PUNJAB led the battalion personally at Bedori in 1965. Lt Col NN Khanna CO 2 SIKH laid down his life leading the attack on Raja. Lt Col GS Sangha, CO 3 MAHAR received MVC for leading form the front at Chhamb in the same war.
@PravinSawhney@cyrushavo 3/ Lt Col PK Nandagopal CO 6 SIKH LI also got the MVC for personally leading his battalion at Kalidhar in 65. Lt Col Desmond Hayde, CO 3 JAT was a living legend, leading his battalion in the capture of Dograi twice in the same war, also got the MVC
ECHS
The latest travesty in the ECHS saga. The vendor selected by MoD sourceinfosys.com for upgrading smart cards isn't porting data to the new system. Result - doctors having to manually retype medical history and prescription for each patient. This is taking anywhere.....
between 15- 30 minutes per patient, leading to long queues.
Some questions that need to be asked - 1. Isn't data migration included in the contract? 2. If not, why? Weren't those drawing up the contract competent enough to evaluate scope of work? 3. If it is, why isn't it.....
being enforced? 4. Has someone calculated the cost of this migration from perspective of cost of time of doctors spent in data entry work? 5. Even if data migration has been missed out from the contract, isn't it better to contract a few data entry operators to manually type....
1/Reactions to #HyderabadEncounter including my own got me thinking. Movies like Singham, Gangajal, Simbha, Shootout at Lokhandwala are hugely poplar and do well at box office. The rogue but good cop who fights the system including his own dept to deliver vigilante justice to...
2/.. those oppressed by the neta-criminal-cop nexus. Somewhere this theme touches a chord deep within us, as have the Hyderabad killings. The common person's belief in the system to deliver justice quickly is very low, and that's founded on the track record. Police reforms.......
3/.. Judicial reforms, electoral reforms - these have remained mere slogans and our justice delivery system has fallen into complete utter disarray. It starts from the legislature, where money & muscle power has become vital ingredient to election. Legislators are commodities...
