One of the most underrated super power is the ability to 'seek help'!
Seeking 'timely' help from the right people is often not intuitive but most needed! #MentalModel
A 🧵 on why it's hard to 'seek help' and what should you do to 'seek help' easily & more effectively:
'Seeking help' makes us look vulnerable. That's the widely held 'assumption'.
Rather the reframe should be "Seeking help means I have tried or I am trying, AND seeking help now will ensure what I want will be achieved more effectively &/or effectively."
There is 'heroic' associated with NOT seeking help and instead 'struggling'.
The struggle makes the story worthwhile but at the cost of the result u want to achieve.
But every great story must have great supporting characters.
'Allow those supporting characters in ur story'.
Seeking help is about 'strength' & 'wisdom'.
The strength to keep your ego aside.
The wisdom to validate your assumptions.
The term 'seeking help' is usually used in the context of 'mental health'. That in my opinion is limiting.
'One needs to seek help when one needs to. Period.'
Seek help when you know the following:
1. You can't do this yourself. 2. You trying this yourself will make you 'look good' but NOT become good. 3. There is someone else who must do this as it will help you in long term. 4. You doing this yourself will delay things.
Seek help from those first who are likely to help you most 'effectively' & 'quickly' instead of most 'probably'.
'Be direct' about 'what' help you need.
If the 'why' is not intuitive to the person then 'explain' the 'why' in a manner that seems 'obvious'.
Close the conversation by 'paraphrasing' what you understood about the help that the person will extend or not extend.
Thank the person irrespective of the help being extended or not.
It's another superpower to maintain or even build the relationship when the help is not extended.
Finally, remember to help when you can. My mental model on extending help is that I help people when it's not uncomfortable for me to help them.
And I tell then WHY I think I can help them or NOT help them.

Bad product features-Product features that drive the agenda of the product leader and not fulfill the needs/desires of the user. They exist only for optical reasons.
Good product features- Fulfill the needs/desires of the user.
One of needs for the users of any #foodtech app would be to not see any variance in the amount to be paid between when the food item is selected versus the amount that is paid finally.
Eliminating this 'unpleasant surprise' is more important than providing discount coupons which most of the times doesn't give the user the feeling that they are saving money in the transaction.
It rather makes the user feel that the company underestimates their intelligence.
