1/10 Some #CharitySoStraight top tips for your charity in 2022 #Thread

Please don't Rainbow Wash your charity brand this year in #Pride season (it's never a good look) Meaningfully engage with your #LGBTQ+ stakeholders + audiences instead #Authenticity #RainbowWashing #branding
2/10 Think about how your charity depicts the people it works with. Do you show a diverse range of people including #LGBTQ+ / same sex couples online/in your marketing collateral? Consider what message this sends to potential employees + service users if not #CharitySoStraight
3/10 think about what data you collect when you're recruiting + consider how you can use that data to benefit your #LGBTQ+ employees. You can't support the needs of your workforce if you don't know who they are! #diversity #CharitySoStraight #recruitment #CharityRecruitment
4/10 + following on from that, if your charity doesn't collect #diversity data around sexuality when recruiting, how do you know whether or not you're charity appeals to #LGBTQ+ candidates? If this isn't on your agenda, think about why not? #CharitySoStraight #CharityRecruitment
5/10 think about how you can be a better ally to your #LGBTQ+ colleagues this year. What will you do (inside + outside) the workplace and what can you share here to help others to be a #ProudAlly? #CharitySoStraight
6/10 being a #ProudAlly includes many things but one simple thing everyone can do is to challenge language that isn't appropriate or makes you feel uncomfortable. This might include #homophobia or knowingly misgendering someone #CharitySoStraight
7/10 following on from that, think about non-work conversations + not making assumptions about peoples patners/personal life. Use words (if you must) like partner instead of assuming that a woman will have a male partner. Make conversations easier 👍 #CharitySoStraight #ProudAlly
8/10 its good to know your privilege right? So if you're asked to speak at a webinar, maybe ask about the #diversity of the panel. Is it made up of the same familiar CIS people? Consider if you might be able to offer a platform to one of your #LGBTQ+ colleagues #CharitySoStraight
9/10 so, that's a few things to consider as we start the year. What are your thoughts? What actions will you take this year to support + lift up your #LGBTQ+ colleagues? As ever, do let us know your thoughts + please RT to spread the word #CharitySoStraight
10/10 Our community has so much to fight for + against this year:
•the rise in #HateCrime
•toxic #Transphobia
•banning harmful #ConversionTherapy

These issues impact on #LGBTQ+ people's lives every day, inside + outside of work. Be part of the solution #CharitySoStraight
