Covid has entered our household. My partner, who is a nurse, recently tested positive. She’s fully-vaxxed and only experiencing mild symptoms. But it’s been an anxious time for all of us. 1/n
We had a family Covid plan which I hoped we’d never have to use. But here we are. Jen is isolating in our room. We’re bringing her all her meals. I’m sleeping in the basement. The kids and I are wearing masks around the house and limiting contact. 2/n
We’ve had family members bring us groceries, and we’re lucky enough to have three full bathrooms, so Jen can have one for herself. For the time being, we’re eating separately and we’ve stopped sharing things like towels and toothpaste. 3/n
Finally, I’ve ordered CO2 monitors and the parts to make a couple of Corsi-Rosenthal boxes to improve air filtration. I’m kicking myself that I didn’t do it sooner. I don’t know if we’ll be able to avoid everyone is the household from getting infected, but we’ll try. 4/n
The crazy thing is that even though we’ve all been exposed, I could technically go out into the world and interact with the public and the kids could go to school on Monday because the UCP has eliminated restrictions for close contacts. (Of course we won’t) 5/n
Even though this has happened, I’m feeling lucky that we’re all vaxxed and that we have the luxury of being able to stay home and ride this out. I’m acutely aware that many others don’t have the same kind of options. Anyway, thanks for reading this far. 6/n
Please take this wave of the pandemic seriously (even if our government is not). Be careful out there. And let’s try to take care of each other. 7/7
