So Many Vulnerable Elders and Young Institutionalized Disabled people, cut off from families, Legal representatives, friends. NY Governor neglected using alternative settings-Javits Center and Mercy Ship-both underutilized. Instead He Promised Immunity from Lawsuits to Owners, Administrators, Directors of Nursing, Discharging Hospitals, Liability Insurance Carriers covering Malpractice. Sweet, huh?🤔

How can a Governor turn his/her back on Most Vulnerable Citizens of New York. Not only are #NursingHomes as Restrictive as Prisons, Residents were without Legally Responsible People-Guardian,Family to Oversee Care while Governor “granted” (illegal) exemptions from Liabilities!
Ageism is PC? Or is it simply Political Payback?

How much money did Nursing Home Owners/Liability Insurance save being granted immunity? How much money is saved when lawsuits roll in? Problem w/immunity-I don’t believe is legal. Sue anyway.
I wish even one Director of Nursing had stood up to AC’s Irresponsible Order and Refused. I would have refused. Nursing Homes regularly close to admissions during Deadly #Influenza season. Similar-airborne virus.

Here’s what the Victims can do-loved ones of Nursing Home Residents harmed by AC’s Deadly error in judgement likely to protect/benefit owners of Nursing Homes.
Action Steps: Call Ombudsman, Letters to NY Department of Health, NY Licensing & Protection. Copy Hospital, Doctors.
Encourage Hospital and Nursing Home Employees to write letters. Did they Agree with Dumping #COVID19 positive or pending Hospital Patients into Nursing Homes with no preparation, no support, cohorting necessary, spread like wildfire. Incident reports? Risk Management?
Can Somebody test the “Free from Liabilities “ order AC made? I do Not believe that was Legal on any level. It implies nobody can Sue because they followed Governor’s order. I believe that is a lie.

Education is a big part. Empathy doesn’t hurt. I think #pwMS are wise to share among themselves: symptoms, pitfalls, what helps/harms, treatment, diagnosis, assessment. Non #MultipleSclerosis People who Love You cannot understand what You go Through. Try to give them good info 💚
I would point them to website/twitter for @shiftms @mssociety @GavinGiovannoni @Brandon_Beaber @AaronBosterMD @drbarrysinger No reason to reinvent the wheel, so much information here. Fear is based partly in Not knowing What to Expect. Lay out a solid plan with detours possible.
Bumps in the Road shouldn’t be a sign of Failure, but a Detour. Don’t ever beat Yourself up. Don’t waste breath on loved one who can’t hear you. They can go into denial/depression too. It’s important for them to Know-it’s Normal. Sucks but that’s the MonSter I’m referring to 🐉
