& an absolutely terrible morning to whoever put together this trash fire of corporate lies for the CEC!

i...can't even believe someone wrote these bullet points with a straight face

hey CEC, let me fix ALL of these for you:

you say

"Labour stability and certainty."

but you mean

"The certainty of management blitzing past the bargaining table, imposing unilateral terms & conditions, then forcing a vote on an offer union membership has already rejected."

you say

"The maximum allowable increase under Bill 124."

but you mean

"The CEC agrees wholeheartedly with Doug Ford's decision to let public salaries fall behind the rate of inflation!"

(also: CAAT-A isn't asking for a pay raise, so this point is completely irrelevant)

you say

"Significant enhancements for priority for partial load employees"

but you mean

"The CEC refuses to offer partial load faculty bridging health benefits between consecutive terms OR to grant them basic seniority rights when renewing their contracts!"

you say

"Documenting coordinator duties and providing the employee freedom to determine what is acceptable"

but you mean

"The CEC plans to overwhelm coordinators with work & slowly siphon off their poorly-defined duties to administrators outside the the bargaining unit!"

you say

"Mechanisms to continue working on areas of concern together"

(like, could you be more vague??)

but you mean

"The CEC will hire a bunch of corporate consultants to do 'research' & run panels with no actionable outcomes or faculty input, guaranteeing zero progress!"

you say

"Neutral-chaired committees bla bla bla consensus bla bla bla"

when you mean

"This is the same as the last point! But let's say it again with more words and even less meaning!"

you say

"A comprehensive review of workload for both full-time & partial-load employees"

but you mean

"We haven't updated workload factors or conflict resolution protocols since 1985, so we better not start now! I know, let's hire some *consultants*"

you say

"Updates to the counsellor class definition"

but you mean

"The CEC can reduce or modify counsellor duties at any time, or contract their roles out to non-union gig workers! But don't worry, it's *multidisciplinary*"

you say

"Multidisciplinary teams in the College Sector"

but you mean

"Fewer full-time & union-protected jobs in the College Sector! More gig workers with minimal benefits, no labor continuity, & non-existent academic freedom! But let's also keep hiring more managers!"

you say

"Solution focused EDI work that builds on the work already underway at Colleges"

but you mean

"The CEC will continue extracting unpaid intellectual labor from marginalized faculty while offering no actionable policies or decision-making power!"

you say

"Meaningful engagement with Indigenous communities"

but you mean

"The CEC will appropriate the idea of decolonization from Indigenous leaders, but only if it has no impact on institutional policies! Also we refuse to be held accountable when we act in bad faith!"

you say

"A strong, sustainable college system"

but you mean

"A tuition-rich, academically empty, anti-student, anti-union cash cow for provincial profit-mongers!"

you say

"Putting students first"

but you mean

"Putting tuition first! If we don't get that tuition, how will Doug pay for his little red shovels? How will we pad the pockets of the private contractors we're selling the college system off to?"

TL;DR:

this is, imho, the CEC's biggest heap of bullshit yet.

-unconscionably dishonest
-pumped full of vagaries
-built on a foundation of distrust & impunity

pls be clear: there is NOTHING in their current "offer" that differs from the politically bankrupt, anti-student, privatization-fueled proposals they've been peddling all along
