I stopped doing all of this since 2018, which led to excessive weight gain. I have restarted the regimen few days back that I had till 2016 when I lost oodles of weight. It is easy, balanced & does not deprive you of any guilty pleasures. I call it #FoodiesHealthPlan #Thread
1. #Food: Instead of eating 3 big meals, eat 6 small meals. Avoid eating carbs, fried food post Sundown. Snack on fruits, nuts, salad instead of fried or packaged snacks. Avoid all fizzy or packaged drinks. Instead drink water, fresh juice, lemonade, lassi, butter milk, etc
2. #Exercise: No Gym. Brisk long walks, swimming, free hand exercises, stretches, Yoga, sports & generally being active in the house by doing as much domestic chores as you can. Making bed, sweeping floors is very good form of exercise. None of these lead to injuries.
3. #VicesModeration: Don't stop or abstain on days & then binge on weekends. Abstaining can lead to desires consuming your mind excessively. If you must consume then limit alcohol, sweets, chocolates, etc in small quantities as & when you wish. Give up smoking if you can.
4. #Diet: A healthy mix of carbs, proteins, minerals, fat. Lean more towards fish, white meat, eggs instead of red meat. Keep your salt & sugar intake low. Eat salads, sautéed veggies instead of overcooked greasy recipes. Use more of grilled/roast/baked/Tandoori methods.
5. #MakeSomeoneHappy Every day, make someone happy by your words, action or even a smile. Listen to music. No devices for 2-3 hours. Dance for 20 minutes. Sing songs. Sleep 7-8 hours. Play with pets. Mental & physical health are equally important & interdependent. Have fun.
#Disclaimer: Losing weight, being healthy is not a one size fits all concept. Each of us have to adapt any regimen as per our realities, health issues, dietary restrictions, etc. Consult your dietician, nutritionist, doctor before embarking on any of this or any diet/health plan.
Also, follow @DeeptaNagpal one, because she is awesome bundle of joy and positivity on your timeline and secondly, because she has great tips for diet/food.
Another important point: Losing huge weight too quickly can also be problematic, especially for those with heart related issues. Overnight excessive exercise can cause injuries to your back, joints. Build muscles, stamina gradually. Aim at losing not more than 2-3 Kgs/month.
Ensure atleast 2-3 hours gap between your last meal and when you go to sleep. Sleeping immediately after eating is not good. Minimum 1-2 hour gap between exercise & eating and vice versa. Have fruits on empty stomach. 1/2 hour break between drinking water & eating, vice versa.
fitness expert friend working in Hollywood, once told me that the worst thing you can do to your health & weight loss plan is eat anything which has yeast. It bloats up your intestines & artificially increases hunger more than your body needs. Not sure of its science but I did it

Not one election in last 7 years has been fought on development, jobs, economy, education or any public interest issue. Every election has most irrelevant narratives of religion, caste, regional identities, fake, propped up incidents which have no benefits for the common public/1
The entire purpose of election is similar to that as a final exam for a student or a job interview. Now imagine the disaster if we were evaluating students or employees not based on their aptitude, vision but on irrelevant aspects. /2
With media, rich, powerful lobby in cohorts, we are being made to elect national, state Governments on most irrelevant and redundant issues to run this nation. This is serving only few people in power & their cronies but is a recipe for disaster for our country & citizens./3

#Thread I saw one of the highly educated RW supporters gloat how his fav politician has started Uttarakhand elections campaign with a bang by doing miscellaneous religious rituals & how their opponents are late to collect such political, electoral brownie points. /1
Few years back, we were on the brink of a united civil society finally holding politicians accountable and making issues of public interests paramount. Today, politicians have not only divided civil society but have made cheerleaders of even educated or thinking people. /2
Now we're measuring politicians not by work but by performances at religious rituals. Issues of Governance, economy, jobs, inflation, national security have been long forgotten by masses. Truly, religion is the opium of the masses and nationalism is refuge of the scoundrels./3

When I lost some of my friends to hate spewing RW, I asked, are they okay to loose friends? Their answer often was - it is okay, we are doing it for the betterment, development, progress & Hindu pride. I knew then that they have been radicalised, manipulated by lies, deceit 1/
They had refused to see RW lies then & many still do not but ask yourself this what have you gained in last 7 years? My conservative guess is Zero, Zilch. What have you lost? Friends, respect, love, relations but more importantly, what the nation has lost is irreplaceable. 2/
How has our nation become better when gloriously diverse yet united India has been divided in just 7 years for the first time post independence on the lines of religion, caste, region, language and even food habits and clothes they wear. Is this what you'll call betterment? 3/

If the Govt has any concern for Indians, all they need is to use some common sense. Here are some common sense suggestions that Govts in India can do to ease citizens suffering and control #COVIDSecondWave: 1. Ban all religious gatherings, election rallies with immediate effect.
2. Cancel all lofty expenses like central vista renovation, statues, purchases of luxury for ministers, etc & use the funds to give direct cash to poor, needy, unemployed & distressed and small micro businesses on the lines of Covid relief given by US Gov. #COVIDSecondWave
3. Create a special task force independent of Govt control made up of Indian and international experts in Disaster management, healthcare & science. Let them draw up a immediate, short term, long term recovery & containment plans for Govts to implement. #COVIDSecondWave

Parties, politicians of all hues have their share of negatives but I see one big difference in the supporters of liberal, secular, progressive - Many question, challenge, protest against most of the negatives of their own side. At times, harming their own electoral chances. 1/
RW supporters, in contrast, offer blind unquestioning subservience. Shockingly, even those who clearly possess critical thinking & analytical skills. They do not just celebrate but almost demand lack of checks & balances in the system, especially while dealing with dissent. 2/
In my opinion, it is the behaviour of RW supporters, worldwide that is making RW politics dangerous, combative & anti democratic norms. Any party or politician who is offered such unchecked power, will undoubtedly abuse it in all the ways possible. 3/
