#yeg #Yyc #ableg #Covid19ab
Kenney says REP was for discretionary activities, like casinos or NHL games.

They also offered rapid test options.

Says REP never covered essential things, such as driving a truck.
Kenney adds REP helped boost vax rates and helped stave off greater stress on health care system.

Adds booster shots are the best way to ensure the government can open things up quicker.

NDP health critic David Shepherd says he's glad the UCP heeded their call to expand boosters and to get more rapid tests into Albertans hands.

But says not reversing decision to allow unvaccinated people to gather is "reckless"
Shepherd says the NDP is not calling for hard lock downs, but asks why Alberta is doing less than other provinces.
"Where is that modelling?"

Shepherd says he wants to know why Albertans aren't able to see the provincial COVID modelling, nor the recommendations put forward by Dr. Hinshaw.

Q!

Why just ask people to limit their contacts instead of rules?

Kenney says we already have robust measures and 90% of adult population with first dose.

Adds asking that people look at their own activity, helpful to give them those parameters.
Kenney says all cabinet meetings are going online.

Says he's avoiding parties he's been invited to.

Says Oilers game had 1/3 empty seats at last game, indicating people are already taking precautions.
Is this going to be enough?

Kenney says they are doing what's necessary based on info right now, but are willing to act if needed.

Adds we will see important data coming from South Africa, etc in the next week or 2 about sever outcomes and hospitalizations.
