🧵Nelson and the Spectator have been a constant source of covid minimalising disinformation and are basically a mouth piece for GBD

No suprise to see them over promoting this non-peer reviewed preprint, while ignoring the peer reviewed papers that found the opposite
2/ The papers authors have been open supporters of the GBD which recieved support from Koch funded AIER and some of this papers authors are linked to the Koch funded Cato Institute

3/ Luckily enough Sam has already gathered up multiple threads showing the very many flaws with these studies, I doubt it will ever pass peer review.

4/ It was the Spectator that originally published the GBD when it was released
5/ The author of the original "lockdowns will kill more people than covid, 6% fall in GDP=6million deaths" was invited by Sunak to help the treasuries roadmap plans and since then has been writing for Spectator

Check out his track record
6/ Spectator also has Heneghan, GBD supporter and Collateral Global member as a contributor

The poor Danish mask study which is waved around by antimatter was also promoted by the Spectator
7/ After thr AIERs backing of GBD was revealed and @GYamey and @gorskon wrote a fantastic piece about the GBD, it took a month for GBD and AIER to respond, where did they publish their response?
A science journal? No, the Spectator
8/ Of course there is no connection between AIER ppl and the GBD, they just happened to set up the pro-infection Brownstone Institute together

10/ Spectator also has Paton as a writer, Paton was member of Brexit Central and is now a member of antivax conspiracy group HART

Spectator must know this, they continue to platform his disinformation

This is what I found when over half a year of their internal chats were leaked to me

Links to GBD and being advised by Fagan of Cambridge Analytica and Michael Yeadon of all ppl

12/ They've also been wiling to host letters from other HART members

So they claim to be showing a wide view of expert opinion but all their comments come from the same small interlinked group
13/ Then there is the Spectators Covid tracker....

A tool seemingly designed to misinform
14/ But don't dare accuse them of some sort of eugenics type attitude, its not like prepandemic the Spectator was trying to rebrand and revamp eugenics...

15/ Just like this latest non peer reviewed paper, the Spectator cherry picks studies to fit a pro infection agenda.

Another example being Heneghans "hidden deaths of lockdown" which turned out to be mainly covid deaths🤷‍♂️
16/ I don't get how broadcast media like BBC continue to treat Spectator and Nelson as respected commentators

They are a tool for mainstreaming the far right
17/ And to finish off, another look at this lockdowns don't work study.

18/ It's a very valid question to ask why this non peer reviewed paper has made it across media headlines, considering how many studies don't make news, I can only conclude is the media are deliberately misleading the public

Examples and evaluation

First of all its worth looking at the impact some studies and articles have had in recent months
2/ As always theres been a focus in gaslighting around schools and children

In the UK education is facing serious disruption due to a lack of measures so adults can pretend everythings back to normal while politicians still chase the herd immunity unicorn
3/ Those minimising the impact on schools and children are an important part of the disinformation ecosystem

Each country has a small group of over publicised academics fighting against all measures backed up by astroturf campaign groups

So what UsForThem and @nadhimzahawi are doing is trying to ban and remove the choice of wearing masks in schools

UfT click their fingers and Secretary responds on their behalf!

Yet all three have refused repeatedly to meet with groups like @SafeEdForAll_UK and @Parents_Utd representing CEV children and parents
