Anyway! During my hiatus I was very much obsessed with the idea of a modern AU where NMJ and LXC only meet when they're in their 30s, but NMJ still tries to aggressively big-brother LWJ.

I'm very fond of settings where NMJ gets to meet Babyji in all his feral-weird-kid glory!

But I also think it's funny if NMJ is 35 and LWJ is 27, and NMJ is still like, "*gentle gasp* My new boyfriend comes with a free bonus didi?!?!"

NMJ probably waits all of 48 hours after his first date with LXC to call LWJ and interrogate him about his health.

Is LWJ a vegetarian like his brother? Oh, he's a VEGAN? Then is he making sure to get enough plant-based protein in his diet? Is he taking his B12 supplements?!

NMJ knows a very good vegan protein powder that has all the B vitamins! He'll drop some off at LWJ's apartment this afternoon!

LWJ: ...

LWJ: .....

LWJ: ...Sir, I am an adult who has been a vegan for thirteen years. 🤨

LWJ is glad his brother is dating a nice man who makes him happy.

But MUST he and NMJ befriend one another? MUST they? Can't they just nod politely (and silently!) when they see each other at family dinners?!

Alas, LXC says no. 😔

LXC fully subscribes to the 'if you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my didi' philosophy.

He takes NHS for weekly sip-and-paint classes, and he thinks it's absolutely necessary that NMJ have some Bonding Time with LWJ too!

So LWJ gets dragged to baseball games and amusement parks. NMJ insists on buying him dairy-free ice cream, and insists on driving LWJ home to make sure he gets back safely.

He tells LWJ that if anybody at work bothers him, make sure to tell NMJ right away! He'll sort it out!!

LWJ, crying internally: ...Sir. I am TWENTY-SEVEN.

Sadly for LWJ, didis are didis, no matter how old they are.

And NMJ refuses to be called 'sir' by his new didi! So LWJ is press-ganged into accepting that he now has a brand-new Da-ge, whether he wanted one or not. The end.

Another thought I was obsessed with during my hiatus:

Post-CQL. WWX and LWJ finally reunite. LWJ has just resigned as Chief Cultivator, and WWX has just finished sneakily building a cottage in a village near Cloud Recesses.

He's set up a little farm outside with some chickens and goats and things. The house is simple, but solidly built.

And he shows it to LWJ, and (with much stammering and rambling) asks if LWJ would maybe consider someday doing him the honor of living with him in that house.

Tears! Kissing! Joy! Etc.!

LWJ is happily packing his little qiankun bag so they can elope immediately.

Except there's a small hitch.

WWX doesn't want to elope.

Tonight, I'm thinking of a modern-cultivators AU where Alphaxian is trying to woo Omegaji through Traditional Methods and it's...not going well. 😬

He tries to show off what a great hunter he is!

But it turns out LWJ is a vegetarian and loves small fluffy animals, and he recoils in horror and disgust when WWX presents him with his latest kill.

WWX tries to display his prowess in cultivation tournaments and night-hunts!

But he comes in second...right behind LWJ himself, who managed to take down one (1) more yao than WWX did.

Absolutely the worst part of adulthood is when you have to do things like schedule a visit to the periodontist and then make yourself go. 😭

I prooooobably need a gum graft, and I have been putting off this consultation FOREVER because I don't wanna deal with it.

But I gotta go get the consultation done today, and I'm being a huge baby about it.

...Welp. I got myself all worked up for this appointment and was proud of myself for managing to show up at all!

And then the periodontist was SUPER late.

(She wasn't even in the office? She was out driving for some reason?? In the middle of the work day???)

I like to think that A-Yuan is also an omega, and he and LWJ sometimes nest together! As he grows up, he mostly stops doing that. But sometimes, particularly after WWX's return, LSZ joins his parents in their nest for Cozy Family Time.

I also think that sometimes (particularly when LSZ's heat is coming up) LWJ gets a bit Feral and Overprotective.

He even boots WWX out of the nest! (Temporarily!)

ONLY nest with baby. ONLY protect baby. No one else allowed. No alphas. Go away. Don't touch Baby or he will bite!

WWX and LJY have to mope around the courtyard together for a few days.

LWJ no care them. :( He kick them like the football. :( They're not allowed to poke their heads in the room to say hi to LSZ. :( If they try it, they'll get bitten by Omegaji. :(

Thanks to several big-brained folks on the timeline, I am currently OBSESSED with the idea of a modern AU where LQR is desperately trying to get LWJ married to WWX.

LWJ brings home his friend from college for a visit. LQR asks a few questions and takes one look at WWX. He goes through a whole mental checklist:

✅ Chinese
✅ Speaks fluent Mandarin
✅ High school valedictorian
✅ Third-year student at MIT
✅ Studying to be an engineer

And he immediately start pestering the two of them to get engaged.

Bonus points if they're not even dating, so they both do a spit-take when LQR asks when they plan to marry.

I am thinking about NieLan having a baby (LJY), and NHS and LWJ having an all-out WAR to determine who will be the Favorite Uncle.

LWJ wins...at least with LJY. Maybe NHS becomes the favorite with the next baby.

But even so, NHS holds a grudge against LWJ until his dying day. LWJ stole the position of Favorite Uncle to Da-ge's eldest child! Some crimes are simply unforgivable, you know.😡🔪

NHS: A-Yi, come here! Don't you want me to teach you painting?

LJY, clinging to LWJ's leg: No! I want to learn martial arts!

NHS, incurably dramatic: ...My Own Flesh And Blood Has Betrayed Me.
