📍 Who is old enough to remember when many mocked “scariants”? Well, over 100,000 Americans died of #COVID19 in the 50 days (from Dec 15th 2021 to Feb 3 2022) ➡️this sits as the 3rd fastest “100k death interval” behind 34 days & 36 days last winter.

3) I distinctly remember one person (out of many) who mocked and downplayed variants as scariants— widely cited supposed “expert” Monica Gandhi of UCSF… but now 900k Americans are dead and millions more worldwide. Listen 👇
4) she even called out people who trying to warn about variants and trying “to scare you about variants”. Well the Delta variant and #Omicron variant together have killed countless since her words.
5) in early Dec 2021, as Omicron was surging, and while most were sugar coating that Omicron was somehow “mild” — I tried to warn that were entering a Pandemic 2.0 type of virus that would cause mass calamity, All I want it for COVID and for folks to take precaution.
6) this wasn’t my first rodeo trying to warn. It doesn’t matter if some think I was wrong - I was never more certain of a pandemic was looming. I only wanted to warn and only care about saving lives.
7) #Omicron complacency kills. Period. People were so blasé though. And so many downplayed it. Who should be held accountable for endangering the public is for history to decide.

Who else feels that fighting to protect kids from COVID is like us Gryffindor🗡 always battling anti-mask Slytherin🐍? We also are forced to do ‘Defense against the Dark Arts’ versus pro-COVID-infection Death Eaters & circling Dementors waiting to enter schools w/out mitigation.
2) Fighting against anti vaxxers is hard enough but there are actually people trying to actively infect kids with COVID — seriously. They are as demented as Dementors.
3) FACT— if a whole class of 30 kids gets infected, there will be 4 stricken with #LongCovid. Can we perform more Defense Against Long COVID damnit?!

RIP Dr Li Wenliang who first sounded the alarm🚨 in Wuhan—but muzzled by his hospital & leaders when he tried to warn. Authorities didn’t listen. He shouted over & over—almost terminated from his job for trying to warn the 🌍. Until it was too late. ➡️ We still have not learned!
2) Dr Li was reprimanded for “spreading falsehoods” about the virus. The government later posthumously rescinded the reprimand after his death. Too little too late. His wife was pregnant with their 2nd child when he died. She gave birth in June as a widow. npr.org/sections/coron…
3) Many mourned and paid tribute to Dr Li Wenliang after his death. Like countless others, I couldn’t stop crying in February 2020 when he died. Let’s please not let him die in vain!!! 🙏

NEW—White-tailed deer on NY Staten Island have been found carrying the #Omicron variant—marking the first time Omicron has been reported in wild animals. The results intensify concerns that deer could become a reservoir & a potential source of new variants nytimes.com/2022/02/07/hea…
2) The researchers also found that one deer with Omicron already had a high level of antibodies, suggesting that it may have been previously infected. If #Omicron is similarly immune-evasive in deer, animals infected during earlier outbreaks may be vulnerable to reinfection.

📍“Cryptic” unknown #SARSCoV2 variants were found in New York City sewers, many never before found in humans. Some could infect cells with mouse🐁 and/or rat🐀 ACE2-receptor, & were resistant to different neutralizing monoclonal antibodies. So 🍕rat-COVID?

2) “Interestingly, all four WNY lineages contained a polymorphism at spike protein residue 498 (Q498H or Q498Y)… both of these polymorphisms have been associated with host range expansion of SARS-CoV-2 into rodents, which are generally resistant to the parent SARS-CoV-2 lineage”
3) It’s very clear that the 4 key NYC sewer #SARSCoV2 variants have an unusual affinity towards favoring mice-ACE2 and rat-ACE2, much higher than human-ACE2 receptor. Hence the reasons the authors think it has mice 🐁 and rat 🐀 as a likely source.

28 seconds^ is fast… however, the world record for Rubik’s cubing BLINDFOLDED is actually 15.50 seconds!!

UPDATE— I’ve just been informed the latest world record for BLINDFOLDED Rubik’s cubing is actually now 14.67 seconds. 😮

Judge temporarily halts @GlennYoungkin’s executive order forcing schools to make masks optional in Virginia schools after lawsuit from school boards—a major victory for the 7 school boards that sued to stop the order & a sharp rebuke for the new governor. washingtonpost.com/education/2022…
2) Youngkin (R) issued his executive order making masks optional for students in schools, subject to the choices of parents, on his first day in office. It took effect Jan. 24, but the majority of Virginia school districts — at least 70 out of 131 total — are defying the order.
3) The order has earned multiple legal challenges. A group of parents sued three days after Youngkin announced the mask-optional order, and seven school boards — including Fairfax County Public Schools, largest & most prominent district — sued over the order two days after that.
