RIP Dr Li Wenliang who first sounded the alarm🚨 in Wuhan—but muzzled by his hospital & leaders when he tried to warn. Authorities didn’t listen. He shouted over & over—almost terminated from his job for trying to warn the 🌍. Until it was too late. ➡️ We still have not learned!

2) Dr Li was reprimanded for “spreading falsehoods” about the virus. The government later posthumously rescinded the reprimand after his death. Too little too late. His wife was pregnant with their 2nd child when he died. She gave birth in June as a widow. npr.org/sections/coron…

3) Many mourned and paid tribute to Dr Li Wenliang after his death. Like countless others, I couldn’t stop crying in February 2020 when he died. Let’s please not let him die in vain!!! 🙏

4) Coincidentally, I share a name with him — my Chinese first name at birth was “Liang” 亮 — like his. It means ‘bright’ or ‘to shine a light’ on something. He certainly shined a 💡 for the world 🌍— if we had only paid attention. Warning others is hard.
