2nd night since @fordnation declared provincial state of emergency, 16th night of #ConvoyProtest in Ottawa. Smaller crowd than yesterday, but that may have had more to do w/ -24 C w/ windchill temp than augmented police presence. (Pictured: all police I saw on my walk) #cdnpoli
(these pix are not live-ish, I took them between 10:11 pm and when I got home--sorry folx, too cold to take pics and tweet 'em without freezing fingers).
To give you some sense of the crowd in front of the Peace Tower.
Unlike yesterday night, did not see any police near the Terry Fox statue tonight.
The port-a-potties in front of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's office were still there though. Some additions (at least new to me): some have given 'office' names. For Trudeau, for Quebec and Ontario Premiers François Legault and Doug Ford, and CMOH of Canada Dr. Theresa Tam.
How cold is -24 w/ windchill? It's: this musician wondering if anyone has a heater lying around cold. 👇🏼
The National War Memorial. Someone's now written up a Martin Luther King Jr. quote from his I Have A Dream speech and left it nearby. #cdnpoli#ProtestConvoy
This one calls the Prime Minister treasonous, it doesn't use the f word at him.
Couldn't tell you if whoever drew this sign with the former U.S. President definitely knew he'd embraced their cause at a rally or just wanted to use the imagery.
Again a smaller party at Rideau/Sussex than the one last night.

@JustinTrudeau thanks officers on the ground who helped reopen Ambassador Bridge. But says it's clear there are impediments, difficulties for them to act alone. "The federal government is ready to use more tools at its disposal to get the situation fully under control."
@JustinTrudeau says he's consulted w/ cabinet, caucus, spoken to opposition leaders. "The federal government has invoked the federal Emergencies Act." Says scope of measures will be time-limited, geographically targeted, reasonable, proportionate to threats they're to address.
There's a court injunction against blowing horns still in effect. #cdnpoli#protestconvoy
just fyi I have seen two police officers while I've been walking along this stretch of Wellington on the night @fordnation declared a provincial state of emergency. Have definitely seen more police presence on other nights.
In fairness, more of them as you get closer to Chateau Laurier/ Sussex.
Protestors again at Trudeau's next event. Supporters here too. Some of the completely illogical screaming: "crimes against humanity," a bunch of swearing.
Yelling at journalists again. We were told we'd burn in hell. #cdnmedia#elxn44
"He's supposed to talk to the people," says one of the protestors, yelling at a police officer.
Usually there have been supporters screaming and shouting out protestors. Not the case at this Nobleton Ont. stop for @JustinTrudeau as he waves at the demonstrators before walking in. #cdnpoli#elexn44
PA announces @JustinTrudeau event's cancellation as media shuttled back on to bus. As this was happening I watched RCMP detail explain to one man he cannot get close to the bus. #cdnpoli#elxn44
We are in the Quebec City-area riding of Beauport-Limoilou this morning waiting for Liberal leader @JustinTrudeau to make an an announcement on seniors. #cdnpoli#elxn44
@JustinTrudeau has arrived, but its neither he or local candidate Ann Gingras who speaks up first, but adjacent Québec riding incumbent @jyduclos , who squeaked by the Bloc for a victory w/ a few hundred votes in 2019. Duclos says he's thrilled Gingras is part of team.
We're waiting for @JustinTrudeau to show up at an event in a backyard in Surrey this a.m. Protestors outside. Colleagues have identified at least one who followed Liberals from Hamilton Ontario yesterday to Surrey BC today. Would not say if he's w/ an organization. #cdnpoli
@JustinTrudeau up now, says it is such a treat to be back in BC, his second home. He's flanked by Gordie Hogg, who is running for Liberals in Surrey South White Rock, currently held by Conservatives.
@JustinTrudeau in part reiterating yesterday's housing anno. But also this: raising corporate tax rates on banks, insurance companies on earnings over $1 billion from 15 to 18 per cent.
