I know many believe I’m hyperbolic and over exaggerating the threat to Canadians, Americans and to every citizen on the globe.

I’m not.

The threat to our collective existence isn’t just from climate change. It’s from the people obstructing climate action because it will remove them from power. Global oligarchs. The super wealthy.

You might have a difficult time accepting the wealthiest people in the world would attempt such diabolical plans. But most of their efforts have been conducted out in the open. So it’s not difficult to build backwards and reverse engineer their strategy and plans.

But I didn’t have to do that. I have a copy of the Canadian plans. Plans that Harper followed very closely and were repeated almost exactly by Trump when he was elected.

People are predictable. Good or bad or a combination, they’re not difficult to figure out.

Putin has been allowed the opportunity to become a global threat, by the wealthy who all dipped their toe into the pool of iniquity. The super wealthy of the globe have robbed Russia blind. Building their own power, control & influence by throwing money at the less fortunate.

While “they” say everyone has a price, it appears that’s not entirely true. Many have warned about these nefarious and Mephistophelian plans. For decades.

Human nature refused to believe that such an evil ambition could be accomplished.

I don’t know why. There are plenty of examples in history of similar ambitions.

Men, who are so full of themselves, they believe they should rule the world.

Hitler, Stalin, King George III, Napoleon, Charlemagne, Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan.

History portrays these men to be great leaders or dismal failures, depending on their successes.

But they’re the same as modern versions: Trump, Putin, Xi, MbS, Netanyahu, Modi, Bolsonaro, Orban, Lukashenko, Koch, Kadyrov, Ceausescu, Kim.

Most aim for realistic ambitions and seek absolute power only in their region. But some have loftier plans. Putin & Koch have global domination in mind.

Their ambition is to establish a global imperial dynasty.

So why people are shocked that these individuals exist and are in control, I’m not sure why. These men have always existed. Narcissistic, ambitious, opportunistic, brutal, callous, strategic and wealthy.

As a species, we haven’t been able to rid ourselves of megalomaniac toxic men. And I’m not positive this time is going to be any different.

Men like this are rare. But they do exist. And there are millions who support them, because they stand to benefit in some way.

Whether it’s as minor as “king of their own castle” or to boost to their self esteem because of their limited social status & financial means to justify their bigotry, or to maintain their wealth & privilege, many are willing to support madmen.

Humanity has functioned under this model of governance for eons.

And it seems many will again. Willingly.

This war is existential. This moment in time, in history, will be defined by the choice between democracy or authoritarianism.

The ugliest part of this choice will be deciding if we can override our humanity to defend ourselves and our freedoms or capitulate because we can’t debase ourselves to exterminate the existential threat.

This threat will recur over and over again throughout human existence, because it’s part of human nature. It always has been. And it always will be. Look at every other social mammal. The strong survive & dominate.

I haven’t abandoned my beliefs about equality and justice. We can change human existence. But it takes concerted effort, united purpose, intolerance of intolerance, and great sacrifice.

Currently, Ukraine is doing ALL the heavy lifting.

I predict this war will end up in global warfare. It’s basically unavoidable at this point. The road ahead is forked. There is no turning back. Which road you take only you can decide.

That may end up being your last free choice.
