@maxeden99 and his friends at conservative think tanks think they have the power to defang the ADA by stripping it of the ability to enforce it. He and his partners at @AEIeducation have an agenda alright, and 7.1 million disabled children in America are blocking that goal.

I didn’t know who Mr. Eden was until he testified in front of a House education subcommittee in which he blamed curtailing the use of dangerous restraints and seclusion of disabled children in Broward County as the cause of the Parkland shooting. When I confronted him about it

here on Twitter, first @maxeden99 said he’d not said that, then when he realized I’d watched the testimony, he claimed he didn’t quite mean that, that perhaps he misspoke, then he said I needed to read his book to get his corroboration of his point.

I went straight to Amazon, bought his book. I’ve read it. There is nothing in it that justifies this claim he made in front @BobbyScott and @DonBeyerVA committee hearing on safer schools. I was baffled how he could make the preposterous claims he made, then I read it all.

@maxeden99 works for @AEIeducation and 1 of their top issues is privatization of schools. They want to privatize schools so their benefactors can profit from educating children. Since disabled kids cost 7 times more to educate, they must eliminate IDEA so schools are profitable

They accuse others of grifting off education, those trying to include & help the most marginalized, but having schools that are inclusive to the most needy, would cost more and take a bite out of profitability. That’s why they vociferously support 90s zero tolerance policies

That’s why, despite data, he wrote an entire book dismissing the veracity of all data simply because 1 school system failed 1 child, or is likely failing all special Ed kids in that system, but one kid did something heinous. So w/Parkland shooting, Max saw a way to kill IDEA

@maxeden99 is caught in the 90s, in a Scared Straight mentality. They’re trying to push the preposterous notion that all 7.1 million disabled children in the US are a danger to non-disabled children. That if disabled kids are included, non-disabled kids will be killed. That’s it

@maxeden99 claims he’s an expert in education, but has no school experience or education in it. His book about Parkland and weighing in on education on disabled kids read like a kid doing a book report for a book he’d not read. There were so many fallacies in it, I was stunned

My high support needs autistic son was subjected to seclusion abuse 745 times in both public and private schools, and I want to know why the hell someone w/an obvious political and profit agenda was able to speak for the voiceless.

I love how @maxeden99 waxes prolific about “listening to the parents,” yet I’ve tweeted him repeatedly over several weeks and he’s not bothered to answer me truthfully. He said he didn’t say what he said. He called ME a liar when there’s video of him saying what I said he did.

@maxeden99 you have a much larger platform and more power. But what you don’t have is a child you love as much as I love mine, who I promised would NEVER be secluded again. Your benefactors will not support abuse of my son. You’ve declared war on disabled kids. You will not win.

If you think the moms screaming in school board meetings about masks and library books are grizzly moms, you’ve not met me yet. I want to debate you. I have a forum. I want to discuss the fallacies of your agenda point by point. I’m not an “expert,” but then, neither are you.

I promised my autistic son he would never spend another moment in a seclusion cell Max, and it’s a promise I intend to keep. You, nor your organization; nor anyone else will stop us. This is my son describing seclusion. Tapping forefingers together in sign language means “hurt.”
