Thread on How to build a Trading Multi Monitor Setup with specifications🧵

1) How to build a multi monitor with details & exact specifications to help fellow traders !

@prathamesh_pai from the team did all the research to strike a balance btwn price & performance

#trading
2) Monitors :

Dell 27 inch 2721HN

BenQ 27 inch GW2780

Vertical Monitor Dell P2722H

We are using 10 monitors & 1 vertical monitor with 1080 p resolution

Purpose of the monitors is to help scan multiple charts, momentum stocks, news and give a bird eye view of the market.
3) Mother Board:

Aorus Elite z690

The motherboard is the backbone that ties the computer's components together at one spot and allows them to talk to each other.

This allows GPU,processor, RAM and other hardware component to interact seamlessly
4) Processor

CPU Processor i7 12th gen 12700K

This is the brain of the computer. A powerful processor provides higher computing power.

We need computing power for backtesting multiple strategies & fetch 1 min data by API.
5) RAM

RAM 16 GB*2 3600 MHz by Corsair Vengenance DDR4

RAM stores the information your computer is actively using so that it can be accessed quickly.

The more programs your system is running, the more memory(RAM) you'll need.
6) Powersupply unit

750 W Gold 80+ by Deepcool

This powers the entire computer.

7) Liquid Cooler

Deepcool L 240 T

This maintains the optimum temperature & let systems run efficiently.

A liquid cooler is more efficient than a fan cooler.
8) Graphic Card

Graphic Card Nvidia T600 4GB * 2

Each graphic has 4 display outputs.

A graphics card is an expansion card for your PC that is responsible for rendering images to the display.

For trading purposes a medium level graphic card is sufficient
9) Memory

Western Digital Blue SN550 NVMe 1 TB

Used to save daily market related files & data.
10) Cabinet

Cabinet Galax Rev05

Used to assemble all the hardware in a single box & use it as a single unit.

This provides good ventilation & has 4 fans.

Also gives a look good & feel
11) Keyboard & Mouse

We have used a simple wirless optical keyboard & mouse

Dell KM5221W

Helps toggling between multiple monitors & for trade execution
12) Costing

Total setup with cost around 2.5 per lakh

We have total 2 setups. So costed us around 5 lakh.

Cost will depend on what specifications you need. You can compromise on things you don’t need to lower the budget.

I hope you found the thread useful :)

Thread: How drawdowns make you a better trader ?🧵

1) As they say :

“A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.”

Similarily,

Easy and calm markets will never make you a great trader ! Image
2)
-Experiencing volatile markets,
-Handling large directional moves, -Going through a drawdown &
-Bouncing back to hit a new equity high.

All of the above are important to build your psychology & character as a trader & help you scaleup ! Image
3) It was August 2016,

I was heavily short on JustDial.

Just Dial dropped by 40 percent in a couple of months & I made a whopping 300 %, thanks to leverage, on my capital in just 2 months.

The profit amassed was 72 Lakhs.

I was ecstatic and on cloud nine😬 Image

Thread:Why most traders lose money ?

1) @Nithin0dha of @zerodhaonline said that 99% of traders don’t even beat FD returns.

So what is the main reason that most traders don’t make money via trading consistently ?
2) The major reasons most traders don’t make money :

- Following tips
-No strategy
- Letting losses run
- No emotional control

But the major reason which is common in struggling traders is CONTRA THINKING.. Let me explain in detail
3) An avg trader's mind is possessed more with fear than greed. In a downtrend always eager to square shorts at the 1st instance of a fall.

In an uptrend always impatient to exit longs at the slightest resistance.

Always obsessed with supposed CONTRA probability

Thread🧵 : Stock Market Resources

Few DM’s on how to get started in the stock market. So creating a detailed thread on some resources/books that have helped me

1) zerodha.com/varsity/

One can start with @ZerodhaVarsity
The content is really good & explained in detail.
2) Position Sizing & Risk Management

Van Tharp Guide to Position Sizing

An amazing book that explains importance of risk management in a simple manner.

One of the best books I have read on risk management

P.S : It costs around 200 $.. I’ll make a detailed summary on this soon
3) Trading Pyschology

Trading in the zone
The Disciplined Trader
The Market Wizards

3 best books that explains why discipline & trading psychology is the important aspect in trading

How to build/backtest a strategy 🧵?

1) Idea( Eg. Theta Eating Strategy)

Options decay with passage of time.
I look at the theta decay curve & wonder that some decay is intraday and some is overnight.
Can I capture the intraday theta decay by creating delta neutral positions ?

#idea #theta Image
2) Entry, Exit, SL & position size

Can we create intraday straddle to capture theta decay ?

Initial Logic :

Entry : Create straddle at 9:20 am
Exit : Close the straddle at 3:15 pm
SL : 10% of combined option premium
Position Size : 1 lot (CE & PE) per 2 lakh Image

Thread 🧵:
A Day in the Life of a Trader (A day in my Life)

1) I absolutely love my work❤️! In fact, I grew up dreaming to be a trader. So trading, to me, doesn’t feel like working (except when I lose😂).
It’s fascinating because it’s different every day.

#trading #life
2)7:30 AM : Alarm Rings

A typical week day for me begins at 7:30 AM.
I spend the next 30 minutes on my daily chores — get ready for office, grab a quick breakfast & have a hot cuppa coffee.
3) 8:00 AM : Leave for office

On my way to office, I check what happened at the Wallstreet overnight & how are Asian markets performing.
I then look for any macro news that may affect overnight positions

P.S: We are moving to a new bigger office & will share pics of that soon

Thread : Why am I running multiple other bussiness such as webinar, broking etc if I am making money via trading ? 🧵

1) This is a question that I have been asked quite often so thought that will write my thoughts on it in detail.

#trading #business #Entrepreneur
2) First of all, I don’t think of myself as only a trader but as an entreprenuer & like to create businesses which have similar synergies to trading or my core skills!
3) My primary source on income is through trading the index via non-directional trades & managing the deltas.
I have shared many videos on threads on the same.

But over past 1.5 year as opportunity came I have built other business around my core trading business.
