2/17 The Senate Committee called in U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland for an explanation and Senator Marco Rubio asked Nuland leading questions in the expectation that she would report that all these Russian accusations were a fake.

7/17 Russia initiated a UN Security Council meeting at which Vasily Nebenzia spoke. He said in particular:

11/17 The central BSL-3 laboratory at the Mechnikov Research Institute in Odessa played a key role in these programmes. Research centres in other cities - Kiev, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kherson, Ternopil, Uzhgorod and Vinnitsa - also played their part.

14/17 In another project, bats were being considered as vectors for potential biological weapons agents. Experiments have been carried out on ectoparasites, such as lice and fleas, which transmit deadly diseases.
15/17 Even laymen realise that such experiments are amongst the most reckless, as they provide no control over further developments.
16/17 Seemingly very specific claims. Russia, China, Brazil, India and Kenya have all agreed that the matter should be investigated further.
