I've just wrapped up my interim Head of Growth role at @ToucanProtocol to focus on building a protocol at @ReFiDAOist to become an accelerator for the #ReFi movement...

Here's some of what I learned in my time at @ToucanProtocol & a glipse at what's next... 🧵🪡

🦜 Learnings from @ToucanProtocol 🦜

1. Timing is key — launching in a bull market vs. bear market makes a huge difference

2. Partnerships — @KlimaDAO needed @ToucanProtocol to launch, and visa versa. Find strong partners early.

3. Composability — do less, better.

3. Build a great team — having an early team with deep technical talent is key to change the world

@raphabenoi, @positonic, @mrjackish, @adamspiers @johnx25bd & @somspace 🌊

4. Know your space — Raph and James spent 18 months ahead of launch researching the carbon market.

5. Focus — you can't do it all at once. Choose wisely.

Build great money legos that work together (carbon bridge, carbon pools) and set a new precedent. TCO2 standard)

6. Tempo — work fast and get shit done, but slow down afterward and take time to reflect and learn.

7. Trust — build a team with core collaborators through short trial projects in order to build trust before making a deep commitment.

8. Ops — create clear structures and repeatable processes for onboarding, operations, and HR to unlock healthy growth (@robdogeth is 🔥)

9. Network — invest in your network. When you decide to build you'll have everything you need through your relationships and won't have to spend time searching for the right partner (@curvelabs, @Kolektivo, @clim8collective, @commonsstack, @deepsciventures)

10. Grit — you'll go through highs and lows as a founding team. Aligned founders with character & experience is make or break.

11. Decide — Making good decisions in fast-paced, high-stakes environments is hard. Reduce information overload.

Slow down. Trust your gut.

12. Opportunity ✨ — Identify talented people with passion and perseverance.

Help them find a place that makes their gifts shine.

13. Pollination 🐝 — Find people with deep expertise and a proven ability to learn.

@Drholwat reached out with a PhD in energy innovation and an interest in #ReFi.

We collaborated to shape a vision for #deCarbonized and now it's a top #CDR, #MRV and Carbon Market read 🗞

I've had an amazing journey in my short time at @ToucanProtocol after stepping up as interim Head of Growth to fill a gap.

It's challenged me in many ways and been fertile ground for me to grow.

I've seen a new kind of leadership that inspires me to lead from the heart.

It's emerged over the last six months across @RefiSpring, @ReFiPodcast and my time at @ToucanProtocol, inspired by chats with @labaume_de at @WE3co in Lisbon.
