Everyone should brace for a lot more of this whether a leaseholder, shared owner or social housing tenant

Many building owners & operators have been in a holding pattern until #FireSafetyAct + #BuildingSafetyAct became law

Some will postpone until the 11th hour - however demand is outstripping supply of labour, goods & services

As a result of #brexit + #covid labour & material costs are more expensive now than 5yrs previous when #Grenfell exposed a #buildingsafetycrisis /2

Additional stressors disrupting global markets increases costs from #suezcanalcrisis to #UkraineRussianWar have sent fuel & material costs sky rocketing, all with oncost, profit & vat at every level.

Literally the shop has sailed & any remediation will cost infinitely more /3

@govuk in its wisdom failed to pursue #polluterpays fully

resorted to pledges & levies + official secretariats & campaign groups were complacent in these deflections

@grenfellinquiry exposed @gocuk as the root cause failure in defective legislation, inspection & enforcement /4

@govuk has tested the waters with back room #UKIndustry deals & only choosing to pursue big developers, then material manufacturers & now smaller house builders

Not warranty providers, insurers, inspectors, constructors , designers or engineers - too challenging or messy? /5

The short fall - literally falling to residents £10k liability outside london or £15k inside london but with unclear boundaries of what’s in or out of scope + inflated labour or material costs commission + overheads + profit and vat at every level? /6

Who is there to save residents ministers who balance #UKIndustry + political popularity

or opposition who yielded to @govuk bills + amendments & now enacting laws forcing the innocent to also pay for the #buildingsafetycrisis /7

Unelected or self-imposed official campaign groups or self nominating secretaries who dropped the ball, pursued who pay vs who makes safe, + those who eye @govuk @LEASEonline funding & tout common hold as fix-all to UK property sector but not fixing the #Buildingsafetycrisis /8

Be wary of those who’s existence or your existence is based on amateur - self taught advice vs directing @govuk + #UKIndustry to resolve the crisis & compensate victims

Watch those celebrating bread crumbs ground rent concessions & industry levies or pledges or residents caps /9

Watch those who’s existence is built on providing advice to a broken system, political or finacial progression

Or worse fraudsters or charlatans making fast bucks with little in return or lose

#UKIndustry deep war chests have already profited from original builds & remediation

Finally @govuk has benefited from VAT, PAYE, stamp duty, insurance tax or other tax returns + reinvestment from #UKIndustry receipts

Hence is the building safety fund now cost neutral to @hmtreasury or income generating? /11

Note @govuk are hedging their bets, deflecting blame for the root cause failures & keen to rattle every impacted family for another £10-15k just for remediation + all the taxes from building safety cases, standards uplifts & professional services. /12

So 5yrs on & we still have a #BuildingSafetyCrisis

after millions of pounds in remediation & charges to innocent consumers are we any safer?

Probably not or at best marginally so but at great expense or should I say cost to impacted families. /13

Those facilitating @GOVUK smooth passage are still manipulating residents complacency

are all out of campaign ideas until the landslide of bankruptcies & homelessness gives them more ammo for their narrow focused self promotion /14

Sadly this #BuildingSafetyCrisis now now a long term crisis

even when @grenfellinquiry concludes @govuk may risk ignoring recommendations & potential for #Grenfell2

Sadly some will not last but have no alternatives but to sacrifice & dig deep or drown in debt + bankruptcy.

To conclude this is the first #buildingsafetycrisis @govuk has had to wrangle or the public pause has had to bail out.

From 1960s to 2022 the modus operandi & core issues remain - now residents have decades of mystery before remediations conclude.
