Doug Ford should give a huge thank-you to the @OntLiberal party for helping to ensure this victory for his second majority tonight.

@StevenDelDuca campaigned hard against the @OntarioNDP right to the very end.

I had a hunch that this was going on when I saw all the calls for strategic voting—which often just confuses progressively minded voters.

Small-C, conservative-lite, Liberals, will nver solve the problems created by big-C Conservatives.

Consider: of those who thought Ford was a great/good/OK premier, 13%/10%/33% of respondents were Liberal voters.

h/t to @christoaivalis.
And based on the early results of my poll from today, progressives have a ton of work to do to educate people about what “progressive” means.

To me “progressive” == working to reduce inequality.

Regressive/Conservative == working to increase inequality.

📊👇
Conservative-owned (or directed) media will have played a huge roll in controlling the conversation regarding politics.

@TorontoStar, @CTVNews, @globalnews, @PostmediaNews, @CP24, @City_tv (CityNews), are all owned by Conservatives.

Collectively, they get to dictate issues.👇
Let’s remember that Ford killed THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE with his policies. Why wasn’t this front and centre in major news outlets? It didn’t serve the media oligarchs who own the media.

(Seriously: not enough people are reading @MoriartyLab & @NoLore.)

The fact is that capitalist-owned media is going to ensure that only issues that support the expansion of capitalism, and the accumulation of wealth by the wealthy, will really be on the table and discussed.

That manufacturing of consent is how Conservatives stay in power.
I want to say “progressives have to work hard between elections to network/build community” etc.

But where? Protests and NDP constituency offices?

It’s clear that progressives have few places to meet up and organize in this capitalist-owned neoliberal hellscape. 😩
Anyway, here’s the link to CBC’s vote tracker if you want more up-to-date numbers than the screen shot I opened with.

Best of luck, #Ontario. My condolences.

Expect a “strong” majority to show “confidence” in Kenney’s “leadership” when the results of the #UCP “vote” are revealed later today. #ableg

The religious right haven’t been this close to power in decades. Don’t expect them to give that power up easily.

They worked hard for their 2019 victory. #ableg

And don’t expect things to go well for education soon…

This is a Conservatism fundraiser.

Proceeds will be collected by Oilers franchise owner, Daryl Katz, who will then distribute funds to “think tanks” that aim to elect politicians who will rob these very fans of social services, like transit, education, and access to abortions…
With their membership in groups like Alberta Enterprise, the Oilers Entertainment Group is fighting to delay action on mitigating the catastrophic effects climate change, and gain tax advantages for the ultra-rich.

I know people who live in Edmonton who want things like expanded transit networks, reliable healthcare, and climate action. They vote progressively. They are confused how Conservatives always seem to win elections. They are huge Oilers fans…

Reminder that privatization was always the plan:

“Alberta Health Services intends to privatize all community labs across Alberta, despite new figures that suggest outsourcing could save far less money than originally estimated.”

“Alberta Health Services and Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) have reached an agreement on terms of a contract for DynaLIFE Medical Labs to deliver community laboratory services across the province.”

DynaLife is a member of the Alberta Enterprise Group.

Through AEG and Wellington Advocacy, it has been lobbying the #UCP government for quite a while to embed itself further into the delivery of healthcare.
