The ancient city of #Dwarka is known in #Sanatan culture to have been the great and beautiful city of Krishna. The Hindu writings say that when Krishna left the Earth to join the spiritual world, the age of Kali began and Dwarka and its inhabitants were submerged by the sea.
The tales of the submersion can also evoke a tsunami like the one that struck India in 2004.
The modern Dwarka is today one of the seven sacred towns of #Hinduism, visited each year by pilgrims worshiping #Krishna.
The search for its submerged part began in the 1930s, and the first archaeological excavation took place in 1963. Numerous ancient artefacts were found, as well as the submerged remains of the ancient Dwarka during the next excavation led by an underwater archaeologist.
Between 1983 and 1990 the archaeologists discovered a fortified foundation on which the ancient city walls must have been built along the river banks. Stone blocks used for the construction, pillars and irrigation systems were found but a debate is still ongoing.
regarding the dating of the vestiges, either from 3 000 to 1 500 years BC or from the Middle Ages.

Numerous stone anchors have also been recovered on the site at the same depth, which suggests, along with the size of the submerged part of the ancient city.
that Dwarka must have had a place in the trading relations between Indian and Arabic areas during the 15th to 18th centuries and must have been an important trade port in the past. The word ‘dwarka’ means ‘door’ or ‘gate’ in Sanskrit.
so this ancient port city could have been a gate for foreign sailors who arrived in India.
The story of ancient Dwarka is an important religious tale, but as we examine submerged ruins surrounding the modern city by the same name, we’re discovering that the legend may be based on something historic,” says Josh Gates, as he dives into the waters of the Arabian Sea.
After investigating the coast of modern Dwarka, Josh heads to a dig site on Bet Dwarka, an island to the north, with a team of Indian archeologists who have recently discovered intriguing relics including the remains of a wall, pottery, and an enigmatic stamping-seal.
“Archaeologists have barely scratched the surface on this island, but the evidence is already mounting that there was a significant settlement here,” says Gates.
“The items we've uncovered and especially the ancient seal demonstrates a vibrant culture here and strong indications of ritual and ceremony. But is it ancient Dwarka?”
Speaking about his experience, Josh Gates, adds, “I leave India entranced, swept up in thousands of years of myth, devotion and celebration. In time, archaeologists may find irrefutable proof that Dwarka isn't just a religious parable in an ancient text.
I'm eager to see what archaeologists turn up next, but for the citizens of modern #Dwarka and of the nearly billion Hindus around the world, this legend is more than just real. It's divine.”

Chitragupta is the one who must keep track of our acts and report to Yama when we die. Brahma's son is Chitragupta.

🧵👇 Image
All stories in ancient Indian texts must be interpreted in philosophical terms. Chitragupta is a lovely allegory. Secret Images are how the word is rendered. What is the location of the drawings, and why is it kept a secret?
It is recorded within us whenever we sense anything, think, speak, or do something. It may stay in our conscious awareness for a while before moving into our subconscious. These records are kept in our heads, and these recordings are referred to as Chitra.
