GB "News" Even The Sun! 🤯
Under the cover of 'free speech', GB "News" (along with many other media organisations & UK politicians) are normalising dangerously abhorrent & divisive rhetoric - remember David Starkey & his grotesque "the whites have become black" & his "so many damn blacks" comments? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🤬

Linguist Ruth Wodak’s (2021) definition of 'shameless normalisation' explicitly refers to ‘impolite or shameless behaviour’: "The far-right populists’ agendas (& related rhetoric) are reaching or have already reached the political mainstream."

Conservative Stanley Baldwin dominated the government of the UK between the world wars, serving as PM on three occasions.

This thread is about his feud with Britain's extremely powerful press barons, Lords Beaverbrook & Rothermere.
Born to a prosperous family in Bewdley, Worcestershire, Baldwin was educated at Hawtreys, Harrow School & Trinity College, Cambridge.

He joined the family iron & steel making business & entered the House of Commons in 1908 as the Member for Bewdley, succeeding his father Alfred.
Baldwin served as Financial Secretary to the Treasury & President of the Board of Trade in the coalition ministry of David Lloyd George and then rose rapidly: in 1922, Baldwin was one of the prime movers in the withdrawal of Conservative support from Lloyd George.

The causes of crime are more complex than Ministers & the Mail suggest eg in 2019, the Children’s Commissioner for England found that children who were in gangs were 37% more likely to have experienced childhood domestic violence/abuse than other children.

New research finds that boys who were experiencing domestic violence, but who had not been deemed to be in an ‘immediate risk’ category (due to the perpetrator having moved out, or moved on, or living separately), were not being offered support.
Some were then before long coming to the attention of youth offending services as perpetrators of violence, through being involved in urban street life (on-road), or involved in gangs.
