I'm focused on dislodging the catastrophic @Conservatives, but occasionally I'll criticise @UKLabour too: "man of integrity" @Keir_Starmer LIED to Party members during HIS #LeadershipContest when he PLEDGED to end private sector outsourcing in the #NHS.🤬
I've bitten my lip because our antiquated electoral system means that @UKLabour - in some sort of electoral pact with other parties - is the ONLY feasible & realistic way of getting rid of the catastrophic Tory Govt. But imho they now need to shape up, & offer a real alternative.
An often voiced & imho legitimate criticism of @Keir_Starmer's @UKLabour is that while they're good at pointing out the many fault's of the catastrophic Tories, they don't offer realistic solutions & an attractive alternative.
Instead of waving flags & offering Tory-lite in an attempt to win over a few of the 29% of the electorate who voted Tory in 2019, @UKLabour should target the 71% who didn't, reframe patriotism & nationalism, & drag the UK electorate into the 21st Century.
Tory MP, ERG member, anti-climate action agitator & Chair the ‘Common Sense Group’ of Tory MPs, John Hayes, has branded British people taking precautions against the heatwave ‘cowards’ & ‘snowflakes’.
John Hayes was one of the 30 Tory MPs who could have been barred from second job consultancy roles in a "sleaze clampdown" following the Owen Patterson Scandal: as a "Strategic Adviser" to international energy company BB Energy Trading, he earned £50,000pa for 80-90 hours "work".
Hayes has repeatedly called for delay to UK climate action on behalf of the anti-climate action Tufton Street Think Tank, Global Warming Policy Forum, which aims to challenge what it describes as the “extremely damaging & harmful policies” designed to mitigate climate change.
So it's not OK for Boris Johnson to lie, but it's fine when Patel's Home Office does?
Despite UNHCR making its position on the Govt’s #Rwanda Plan clear during a court hearing, the Home Office is continuing to misleadingly claim UNHCR is supportive of it. theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/j…
A high court hearing in June was told that the Home Office misled refugees about UN involvement in Rwanda plans.
But despite UNHCR making its position on the government’s Rwanda scheme clear, the Home Office is continuing to state UNHCR is supportive of the controversial scheme.
A critical report about flaws in the #Rwanda Plan to was published last week. The report is by the charity @asylos_, which produces expert reports about the safety of countries to which the Home Office plans to return asylum seekers to.
Please also ask them what they mean by 'woke' without fobbing us off with the usual guff about 'free speech' (which everyone believes in) Critical Race Theory (which they have no clue about), & the antisemitic conspiracy theory of 'cultural Marxism'. 🙏
Here's what imho is arguably the most concise explanation on the @Conservatives' dangerously divisive, utterly disingenuous, populist nationalist & ultimately neofascist 'war on woke', a key feature of their 'culture war' rhetoric.
And a concrete example of how foreign & non-dom billionaire-owned print & broadcast media join forces & help the @Conservatives by fabricating absurd & misleading culture war stories.
The global hard-right's most easily manipulable favourite #ToryLeadership stooge, Liz Truss, floated a #neofascist plan to send Britain's 'unwanted' asylum seekers to Turkey, but within hours it was shot down by the Turkish government.
Rupert Murdoch's Times reported on Saturday morning that Liz Truss would like to open negotiations to send 'migrants' to countries such as Turkey.
Later that day, Turkey hit back, warning that the country would not become a “refugee camp or border guard” for any other nation.
Britain, a relatively rich country of 67 million people, has fewer than 150,000 refugees in the UK.
Turkey, a poorer nation of 85 million people, already has the largest refugee population on earth, including 3.7 million people who have fled the civil war in neighbouring Syria.
