I met with a family doc in Guelph this morning. Her story is a system on the brink of collapse. She is referring seriously ill patients to specialists & they are waiting months as their conditions get worse. She’s forced to provide mental healthcare she’s not trained to provide.
The bottom line is the healthcare system needs more people to provide the care we all need. Money won’t solve all the challenges, but it will take more investment to hire the staff needed to care for people. And the lack of staff is costing us more $ by shuffling people around.
