#Thread time. Remember how I have gained access to an old #Baathist archive through an Iraqi acquaintance? I'm slowly but steadily going through thousands of copies.. And seems not only #KDPI was taking #Saddam's blood money, but also #Komala. +
The above documents show former #Komala's #Baghdad office representative Hassan Shamsi providing intel about Iranian positions and a payslip. See images for translation. Note: this is AFTER #Saddam using chemical weapons against #Kurds from #Iraq & #Iran in #Halabja + #Sardasht!+
This dude is still active in the Iranian opposition mills today. Shamsi has switched from @Komala_english to Communist Party Iran where he serves as a central committee member.
Is there any Kurdish group that has not been in the cahoots with #Saddam?!

In the village of Belasur (Khoy, Iran), an #Afghan mom lost her life while she was trying to enter Turkey with her two kids, unable to withstand the freezing cold. When found, the mother's feet were wrapped in plastic bags and her children had socks on their hands. #refugees
The mother's feet were wrapped in plastic bags and her two surviving children had her socks on their hands when found. The kids were handed over to Iranian soldiers by villagers.
Anyone familiar with the area knows you can't cross that border in the harshest 40 days of winter.
It snows meters and meters, and is very cold. In the summer one crosses in a 4 hours hike. The woman must have been truly desperate - or truly unknowing - to have attempted this trip which was a certain death sentence. It's a miracle her kids have lived.

The ‘Rojava’ project in NE Syria has ridden most of its popularity through their fight against ISIS & their ideology, that promotes a form of grassroots governing by local people on the ground.
This system of popularly elected administrative councils, allowing local communities to exercise autonomous control over their assets, while linking to other communities via a network of confederal councils has seemed refreshing to many that follow developments in the ME.
And it would be interesting indeed, if it wasn’t governed by a shadow power structure with ultimate decision-making authority behind & beyond the local governing entities mentioned above. PKK cadres ‘lurk in the shadows’ and undermine the authority of locals governing, overruling
Last week, SDC's rep. Sihanouk Dibo stated that they would announce the signing of a new memorandum of understanding with a Syrian opposition party. Yesterday, Ilham Ahmed said that they are planning to hold a national conference for all Syrian opposition forces this year...
These rapprochements might be applauded by Western powers that advocate for regime change, but are disturbing for people in the region. After all, these are the same forces the Kurds have been fighting off for years, and that have taken large swats from the lands they held.
He didn't even mention the Kurds in his speech, and seemed to avoid mentioning ‘Rojava’ in the Q&A part of the meeting. Some might not like/support Chomsky, but this message is interesting for anyone to hear. The full 1,5h video is available on YouTube:
Chomsky kicked off by describing the utter importance of environmental issues the world is facing. He said: “The biggest question humans are facing now is: will humans extinct or continue to exist?”
1/ To properly understand Iran’s position in the Middle East, one must not only look at its religion, internal affairs or its complex foreign politics, but its topography & history. Iran measures 1,684,000 square kilometers, and is thus larger than the whole of W-Europe combined.
2/The Zagros mountains run 900 km long from the border adjoining Turkey & Armenia to the S-E towards the Strait of Hormuz & its largest harbor of Bandar Abbas. In the North, the Alborz stretch from its border with Azerbaijan, along the Caspian sea to the Afghan border in the East
@nadinemaenza finds it strange the Syrian gov condemns her visit to North-East Syria. Though officially a UN advocate for religious freedom, one only needs to spend 1 minute at Maenza's social media profiles to see whose asset she is and which side in the conflict she prefers.
Maenza should't forget that there IS religious freedom in Syria. Christians, Yazidis, Sunnis, Alawi's, Druze & Shia's live together in peace. The US-backed jihadi invasion is the sole obstruction 2 religious freedom in Syria. She shouldn't use her function 2 promote US proxies.
"The Syrian gov. condemns the visit by the American delegation because it's a violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian A. Republic. The UN, in all resolutions concerning my country, has
reaffirmed that the sovereignty of Syria must be respected &rigorously observed."
