Thread: Reasons why Barcelona struggled against Rayo Vallecano with Iraola tactics.
Andoni Iraola was one of my favourite coaches last season, due to his variety and solid tactics, especially in counter-pressing and medium press.
Let's see 👇
-Iraola relied on 4-4-2 flat, with medium pressing, every option to pass in Barcelona build-up marked by a player from Rayo.
-2 vs 1, the situation which happened when Gavi, received the ball, repeated a lot in the middle third, with well-positioned from Rayo players and cover the passing options
-Rayo prevented Barca from vertical progression to the middle third easily, with cover pass lanes.
-For example, that vertical pass, from Christensen to Gavi, turned into an attack on Barcelona due to a 2v1 situation.
-Kessie struggled in the build-up phase, due to direct press

Exercise Objectives:
This shooting drill is a great game to emphasize the importance of combining with a partner when going to goal. It also encourages quality runs and crosses. @SundayShare10 #football#coaching#analysis
Coaching Pointers:
Divide your players into three groups and position as in the diagram above.
Two forwards start inside the field (players #2 and #3). They must be mobile and make intelligent runs.
Player #1 passes to either #2 or #3. #tactical_trends
In this example; player #2 receives a pass and combines with his partner #3. Both players combine to get a shot on goal. Immediately after the strikers take a shot at goal, the right-sided midfielder attacks the space and crosses the ball for the 2 forwards. The forwards must now

Thread: Leicester City utilise the corner-kicks tricky
The team presented clear ideas in the league opener against Brentford.
-Brentford mixed style, zonal-marking with 5 players to protect the goalie.
-3 players from Brentford man-marked 3 from Leicester #Leicester#LCFC#Foxes
-Fofana Distracts the defender and prevents him from advancing toward Castagne #LeicesterCity#LEI
-Ndidi is inside the area's defence line, and Vardy is in front of a distraction

Thread: Defending crosses, the problem continues from last season.
-Robertson delayed in pressing, and let the full-back comfort with his preferred foot to cross
-Arnold with lack of scanning which will give him cover the “Blindside” #FULLIV
-Lack of communication between the Goalkeeper and defensive line
-Decision-making of Full-back to be action, not a reaction
-Delayed returning from the wingers
