… the ruling party’s decay is not just at the chairman (Isaias) level but also like him, since 1994:

Political director: Yemane Gebreab
Economic director: Hagos Ghebrehiwet
National Security: Abraha Kassa
Cultural Affairs: Zemehret Yohannes
Secretary: Alamin Mohammed Seid

Of the last two named, one is dead and the other is frozen but as in with legendary basketball players who jersey is retired, with #PFDJ, some of the positions are forever retired….

Ergo, the party has no Secretary now (Alamin died), no Organizational Affairs Director (Ali Jabber, disappeared in 2012), and no Cultural Affairs (Zemehret, occasionally invited to recite the #PFDJ doctrine but otherwise persona non grata)

At the government level, the Defense Minister jersey is retired (Eritrea doesn’t have one: the chief commanding officer, also chairman of party and President of State, is the defense minister)

Even the ambassadors don’t rotate as they do in normal countries. The #Eritrea|n ambassadors to #Japan and #Kenya (two people who get on Isaias’s nerves are in permanent purgatory no matter how often they brown-nose). Sorry Bruno and what’s his name.

#Eritrea|s Minister of Education Semere Russom, also took a job as Eritrea|s ambassador to #Ethiopia until it was decided there was no need for ambassadors since Isaias and Abiy are each country’s ambassadors… Ethiopia has an unaccredited ambassador and Eritrea has a kid….

And so the Minister of Education jersey is retired and #Eritrea|s Minister of Education is also the president of the State. And every year he gives himself an “F” for his role as Minister of Education

The Constitution jersey, #97, was retired. A rookie was drafted in 2014 (#14) when Isaias claimed he was going to draft a new constitution, but he decided the constitution was too great to replace and so that one is also vacant…

#Eritrea’s parliament jersey (#02) was retired in 2002… and we haven’t had a parliament since then:

#Eritrea also had a Cabinet of Ministers (#19!) which used to meet but not speak (all you saw was videos of them ጠበቕ-like shaking their heads like a lizard in perfect agreement with the Chairman/President/Field Marshal Isaias), but they bored him so they, too, are now gone.

And this man, this government, this system, this regime, this collection of outlaws and misfits is constantly presenting itself as a role model for the Horn, nay, #Africa, nay, the entire developing nation block!

The Organizational Affairs Director’s name was Abdella Jaber not Ali Jabber. A hard core communist who had been with them since the beginning was accused of being a Jihadist. Because these are the only cards #PFDJ has for every “enemy”

Also, ምስማዕ ኣቢኹምና እምበር we told you Isaias Afwerki would be president for life in 1995 😎 Now, more and more, it appears that his ambition is no longer president for his lifetime but the life of #Eritrea itself.
