Irony is totally dead now that Laura Trump has gone on TV to complain abt the #TrumpCrimeFamily fraud lawsuit by NY AG. She 😭 that poor Eric was humiliated by the precious charity lawsuit & now those poor little sick kids at St Jude — probably have died — bec of it? Srsly?
2/FACTS: bef waxing poetic on Eric’s charity exploits — NY AG James on Nov. 7, 2019, announced that the NY Supreme Ct ordered TFG to pay $2M in damages "for improperly using charitable assets to intervene in the 2016 presidential primaries & further his own political interests."
3/As part of the settlement, other stipulations in the lawsuit were resolved, incl 1 related to the Trump family’s involvement w charities. The settlement req’d mandatory training for the 3 elder offspring & imposed restrictions on TFG should he join another charity as director.
4/Any charity for which TFG serves as a director must have a maj of independent directors (meaning no 1 in his inner-🔘). Also, it must engage counsel w expertise in NY not-for-profit law. & it has to use services of an accting firm to monitor & audit the org’s grants & expenses.
5/If TFG starts a new charity, it must also comply w those req’mts & report to the NY AG for 5 years. The settlement incl a "total ban on any self-dealing," as the lawsuit had charged that TFG repeatedly used his foundation's💰for his own personal, business, & political interests
6/the foundation dissolved in 2018. The lawsuit does seek to temporarily ban Trump & his 3 eldest spawn from being part of charities in New York. But that case is still pending.
7/The requires training stipulation ensures that Don Jr., Ivanka, & Eric received training on the duties of officers & directors of charities so that they cannot allow the illegal activity they oversaw at the Trump Foundation to take place again.
8/TFG & the Fnd admitted key facts abt their illegal political coordination w TFG campaign, incl that a purported Fnd fundraiser in Jan 2016 was in fact a campaign event, & Fnd gave TFG campaign complete control over timing, amts, & recipients of the $2.8M raised thru that event.
9/Trump further admitted that he & his campaign took credit for the grants that the Foundation made with funds that had been raised from the public.
10/Trump admitted a number of key facts abt the other self-dealing transactions he initiated as chair — specifically, that he used Foundation funds to settle legal obligations of companies he controlled, & that the Foundation paid for a portrait of Mr. Trump that cost $10,000.
11/separately, Don Jr. reimbursed the Foundation for the cost of the portrait. The settlement also requires the Foundation to be reimbursed $11,525 for sports paraphernalia & champagne purchased at a charity gala.
12/$1.78M in assets held by the Trump Foundation, along with the $2M in damages to be paid by TFG, was disbursed equally to 8 charities: Army Emergency Relief, Children’s Aid Society, City MOW, Give an Hour, Martha’s Table, UNCF, UW, & US Holocaust Memorial Museum.
12/the lawsuit seeking to ban the Trumps from participating in charities isn’t pegged to Eric Trump’s foundation. So idk why Laura Trump is complaining— unless ppl have stopped contributing to Eric’s foundation, I guess?
