Breaking: A top source in #Guinean football says the country's government will not allow them travel to #Uganda, to play in a @CAF_Online U-23 qualifier there, as a result of the #EbolaOutbreakUG. (Will add more details shortly, to make a thread...)
"We have asked @CAF_Online about the concerns of the health services of our country, for our match in #Uganda. Our government strongly advises us not to go to #Kampala, at the end of the month, for the match. We have unofficially informed CAF of the situation...
"@CAF_Online replied that to date, the @WHO has not made a decision on #Uganda (concerning safety of travel there) and that its matches will be played. How this will be resolved I don't know, because our government is not joking on this matter," the top source said.
The game is scheduled for Kampala on October 29th.

.@MySoccerAfrica pundit @IdahPeterside, who is contesting for @thenff presidency, has described Friday’s Benin City congress venue as a “vast crime scene”, where the votes of congress members are being bought, by his rivals, for thousands of US Dollars.
.@IdahPeterside: "The @officialEFCC must be here, the police must be here, to arrest some people. Economic crimes are happening here. People are carrying bags, full of dollars, in front of you and distributing it, with no shame..."
"When we went round in the night, to convince delegates to vote for me, they will tell that this delegate gave them $10,000... and this one is bringing $15,000 (to be voted as NFF President). Even those contesting for the board are doing similar things."
LEGAL NOTE: The claim @thenff can organise Friday's elections, because the Federal High Court injunction has been revoked, is dubious. NO ORDER, by any Appeal Court Judge, revoking the injunction, has been produced. ONLY a "Notice of Appeal" was filed on Wednesday.
I have read the legal documents being circulated, as evidence of the revocation. As said, a "Notice of Appeal" and a request for a "Stay of Execution" was filed in the Federal High Court in Abuja, on 28th September. No Judge has heard this appeal or given any ruling.
Without the EXPRESS order of a Judge, of a court of superior jurisdiction to the Federal High Court, the injunction of the Federal High Court stands. And anyone that disobeys it in Benin, on Friday, will be in contempt of court and at risk of imprisonment.
From what I see, from the list of candidates for the presidency, first vice-presidency & other executive committee positions in @thenff, it is clear that political deals have been done underground, by Nigerian football’s principalities and powers. I will explain… (a thread)
1. They have clearly zoned the 1st Vice-Presidency of @thenff to the South-Eastern Zone, to ensure that no Southern candidate in the race can become president. In Nigeria’s geopolitics, the president and 1st VP cannot both come from South or North.
2. This means @thenff presidential candidates from the South, like @DrEmeruwa (from the South East), as well as Amanze Uchegbulam (also from the same region), as well as Seyi Akinwunmi, current first VP (from the South-West) have a very steep, if not impossible, hill to climb.
This is what a top @thenff official says: “@Aiteo_Group has not paid. Under the contract, it’s the sponsor that pays the prize monies. The sponsor has not made available both the prize monies and other sponsorships funds due to @thenff.”
He continued: “This is the reason @thenff refused to start the 2022 @AiteoCupNgr, until the sponsor commited some payments and guaranteed to settle the [outstanding] balance…
“@Aiteo_Group only made commitments in the first week of July and the @NPFLOfficial had just a couple of days to finish… so we had to finish quickly and start the @AiteoCupNgr, with the objective to conclude quickly and submit the #CAFCC rep to @CAF_Online.”
In a separate discussion I had with a top executive of @AlAhly@AlAhlyEnglish on Friday, he told me @CAF_Online was yet to give his club “concrete details” of how the Super League proposal will work.
“We were invited to #Cameroon for the last #AFCON, where the preliminary plan for the #AfricanSuperLeague was put to us & selected clubs from across the continent. But no concrete details, on the finances and other important details, have been given, up till now.”
On @TheRealPitso: “#Ahly, as a club, hold him in the highest regard, though he is no longer with us. He was never sacked & he never came to us with a desire to leave. The mutual decision to part was a consequence of discussions that we had, which showed a difference in vision.”
“@TheRealPitso, in the entire history of @AlAhly, is the only coach to retain his position after losing the league title. This tells you the regard in which we held him. But it came to a point where we asked him to make changes and he didn’t agree to them, so things ended.”
