Why is the social media game so rigged in favor of the saffron RW in India? A quick #thread of some important reads:
📌🧵
Extremely important piece on special privileges given to ppl like Amit Malviya to post what they want w/o moderation and to have posts he reports automatically and instantly removed without a content moderation process.

Been covering US politics for nearly 6 years now as part of my journalism work. I've been a Bernie fan since 2010. I tweet about communalism all the time - also my research theme.

Attempting to school a minority community person that "there's a lot happening in India" wow 🤡
Maybe mind your own business & mute/unfollow me instead of entitled, toxic egging on of minorities/policing their tweets? Or just read someone's bio for reasons why 🙃

Unfortunately your rona dhona is self-inflicted because i certainly never asked you to follow me. Now shoo. 😆
I suggest you don't embarass yourself further.

Interfaith couples and families in India are facing an unprecedented attack in India from both H and M communities. Just from the last few days till now, a small megathread:

Please amplify, just this once even if you aren't too keen - this is about equal civil and human rights:
Vandalism of a mosque and majoritiarian unrest led by RSS and Bajrang Dal over an interfaith elopement. Muslim man, Dalit woman. Woman's family hostile - a thread:
Another case, poor Dalit man, affluent Muslim woman - both were done away with by the woman's family. Thread with links:

Interfaith couples & families often face social discrimination from both sides + even hate & "honour" crimes from their respective communities.

Now, they're being used as an occasion for saffronites to t-rr0rize minorities in the locality. Toxic notions of community conquest.
“In the mob were locals & representatives of a mix of organisations like the Bajrang Dal & RSS. Shera Yadav & Shubham are still moving around freely. No arrests have been made, which is contributing to the continuation of fear in the region. Ppl are leaving temporarily..”
Local Congress did seem to step up:

"A delegation of local Congress leaders met the Dewas district collector and demanded action against people who were involved in damaging the mosque."

The irony of a 4 hr long all-Muslim Twitter space asking Mayawati to convert to Islam [instead of Buddhism] by: Image
1️⃣Randomly citing a 2017 statement by Mayawati on the anti-conversion bill to kickstart a random discussion/lafda.

2️⃣Citing Periyar (an atheist 🤣) Image
3️⃣Ignoring the fact that her choice follows what Dr Ambedkar embraced. Schooling her, Dalits and Ambedkarites on Ambedkar. Image
