Stop waiting for those who are behaving the way they are with #IStandWithCUPE 😷 to tell you to put #Masks back on to prevent airborne spread of airborne viruses.
“increasing evidence that SARS-CoV-2 can cause immune dysregulation… a potential increase in acquired impaired immunity in the ON pop could have significant impact on the incidence & assoc burden of infectious diseases“
“While getting an updated #C19 💉 will help decrease your risk of more severe #C19 outcomes, it’s not going to prevent the virus from entering your nose or mouth.”
“The only way the #C19 💉 could possibly block the 🦠 from entering your nose is if you were to shove multiple vaccine syringes up your nostrils, which you shouldn’t do for both safety and aesthetic reasons.”
“clean hands is not going to help prevent an airborne virus from entering your 👃🏻 or 👄 either. That’s unless you are constantly completely covering your 👃🏻 & 👄 w/ your hands at all times, which you also shouldn’t do b/c…being able to breathe is kind of important.”
“So what about using your hands to wave away the virus? … The answer is no amount of hrs will help you if your goal is to scoop the viruses out of the air with your hands.”
“The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is not like a giant cat hair floating in the air. No amount of hand scooping or fanning or jazz hands is going to be enough to wave the virus completely away from you.”
“Remember that each Covid-19 precaution is like a slice of Swiss Cheese. Each has its own holes. It’s generally a good idea to cover your holes by layering on different Covid-19 precautions as you might layer on Swiss Cheese.”
Stop waiting for those invoking the #NotwithstandingClause to tell you to wear a #Mask as they try to force people back to work
Stop waiting for those allowing paediatric hospitals to remain in this state while doing nothing to tell you to #MaskUp
Is it worth risking your health & the health of children not to wear a high-quality, well-fitted #Mask that prevents airborne spread of airborne viruses?
Do you really want to hotbox yourself & kids w/ no protection from a RG3 human pathogen?
“I’m sorry you’re always sick kiddo, we didn’t #Mask b/c others weren’t & I was waiting for the govt trying to force people back to work & eroding human rights to tell me to while paediatric hospitals were overflowing. My bad.”
“No kiddo, there’s still no treatment or cure b/c they make more $ for their friends w/ sick people who work to pay constant medical bills & can’t fight back as they struggle to survive”.
“There are those arguing that this spike is due to an “immunity deficit”–that children are getting sick now b/c they were deprived of infections during lockdowns & school closings…
…Let’s be clear: that theory is made-up nonsense, perpetuated by the same people who opposed #C19 mitigation measures…”
“Forty years ago, the women of Iceland went on strike - they refused to work, cook and look after children for a day. It was a moment that changed the way women were seen in the country and helped put Iceland at the forefront of the fight for equality”
“When Ronald Reagan became the US President, one small boy in Iceland was outraged. "He can't be a president - he's a man!" he exclaimed to his mother when he saw the news on the television.”
🧵TPH “Wear a high quality, well-fitting mask, especially indoors... Masks are strongly recommended in indoor public settings, & especially if you are around people who are at higher risk/have a health condition.”
TPH masking recommendations are clear. There is no way of knowing for sure if children in your care are immunocompromised. Best health and safety equity practice is to assume so and act accordingly.
In the current absence of mask mandates, it falls to you as humans responsible for the health & safety of vulnerable & immunocompromised children to role-model & encourage clear TPH mask recommendations during this severe-risk period of infection:
TPH “Wear a high quality, well-fitting mask, especially indoors, and based on the setting and situation. Masks are strongly recommended in indoor public settings, and especially if you are around people who are at higher risk or have a health condition.”
There is no way of knowing for sure if children in your care are immunocompromised. Best practice is to assume so & act accordingly by masking responsibly.
