Ford overplayed his hand by unnecessarily suspending basic union rights and freedoms. It backfired. By refusing to negotiate and imposing a legislated settlement the PCs managed to unify a group of unions that had been internally divided.

.@waltonmom and @osbcucscso are ready to go back to the bargaining table to secure a negotiated settlement. This is a major victory for the union.

The dispute, however, is not over. The govt and union still need to conclude a deal, but CUPE has a lot more leverage now to help make that happen.
