Who stole the raccoon? Small THREAD about the video and the person who takes the animal.
In the video, you can see Oleg Zubkov. He is a director of the Yalta Zoo and the Taigan Lion Park founder. Zubkov was a deputy in the Crimean Autonomous Republic in the 2000s. /1
The original video was posted on Zubkov's Youtube channel with the name "We are in Kherson! Catch 7 raccoons in 7 minutes". There are also plenty of other videos with different animals being taken from Kherson.

His biography is interesting. He openly supported the Russian occupation of Crimea in 2014. /3
Later, he discovered that developing his business after the annexation was much harder, bc of corruption, etc. Except that, since many tourists were from Ukraine, visitor numbers have decreased by 70%, according to his interview in 2017. /4
He often complained about corruption and had more than 100 trials. Zubkov once said he doesn't feel like a human in Russia. In 2018 in an interview, he said life in Ukraine was better, and he regretted the decision to join Russia. /5
In August this year, he was sentenced to 2,5 years in prison because of the incident in his park. A lion in the safari park bit a Russian tourist.

I was surprised to see him on that video since I thought he was in prison, but Zubkov was freed at the end of October, according to the court decision. /7
Less than two weeks after he was released, he already posted videos from Kherson on his YouTube channels. Interestingly, after his release from prison, he immediately got a job to do in the newly occupied territories. A typical thing in Russia nowadays… /8

The Sandarmokh executions in November 1937 and their perception in today's #Russia. THREAD Image
Sandarmokh is a forest massif from Medvezhyegorsk in the Republic of Karelia (Russia), where thousands of victims of Stalin's Great Terror were executed in 1937-38. /1 Image
On 27 October and 2,3,4 November 1937, there were massive executions. An attempt to escape explains a break between 27.10 and 02.11. Prisoners decided to run since there was not much hope of surviving. This attempt was not successful, and they were shot. /2

My translation:

(Interviewer): Where did the brigade encounter a full-scale invasion?

(Ohrimenko): At that time, the military unit was at the Rivne combined military training ground at the final stage of reconciliation. /1
We marched, having received appropriate combat orders to perform tasks in the Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and partially Volyn regions to cover the section of the state border.

(I): What were your words to the staff on February 24? /2

Unfortunately, all peaceful protests have not been effective in #Russia so far. Here is the story of a Russian student who didn't believe in these anymore and took another option to fight the regime – to join the Freedom of Russia Legion.

I was an ordinary student. Initially, I was a good student, but I was involved in the protest movement that we had in our country. /1
In particular, I started in 2019, when there was the Moscow case, and many of my comrades and like-minded people were arrested and for the case, the FSB started sewing against them. /2

Russian Community Intervenes for the Wounded Volunteers

Initially, we did not want to publicize our work. We were afraid of damaging the special operation and lowering morale. /1
But today, there are already stories in the press from wounded fighters who took part in the Special Military Operation (SMO) as contractors of the BARS system. /2

Why did this happen? Why, as a matter of fact, did I become a military man? I'm a young father who recently became one the last summer. And I realized that in the backwoods of Russia, it's a particular luxury, a great luxury, to support a family. /1
But my comrades kept telling me that getting a little bit more in the armed forces was possible. So I kept walking around, thinking about it. /2
