Omega Midoriya Izuku got up early like he did every morning for the past week, careful not to wake his pack and most importantly careful not to wake the chief, prime alpha Bakugo Katsuki.
He tip toed out of the tent, and gathered supplies to make a fire. Then he scurried to the lake to gather water he could bring to a boil. Of course these days it was impossible for him to go anywhere alone. The chief's trusty wolf, Black Destroyer of the Night (Kuro for short),
followed him and stayed by his side, wary of any intruders who dared to approach him. Izuku let him drink out of the lake then rode on his back to their campsite. Izuku wanted to be sure he had tea ready for their pack before the sun rose. He needed to prove himself useful.
Kirishima always assured him he didn't have to work so hard. That the cheif was GLAD to have him join their pack so late in their journeys. But that was difficult for Izuku to believe. He met the chief long ago in their childhood. They grew up in the same town.
They used to get along but when Izuku presented as an omega at a young age, he was outcast by everyone including Kacchan. Male omegas were rare and thought to be bad omens. They were considered useless to society because their survival rate after they gave birth was so low.
Katsuki branded him "Deku" and that was a role he knew to be true. Their town didn't need him. And he didn't want to curse anybody. So at the age of 13, he packed all of his things and quietly left to live his life on his own.
Shortly after that, a winter storm blew over the country and never left. They called it the new ice age and everyone had to fight to survive the weather. It was difficult for Izuku to make it on his own. He just wanted a peaceful life where he didn't get in anyone's way.
He had found a ram during his travels that he grew highly attached to. He wasn't a pet, he was his only family. He named him Toshinori. It was the two of them against the world for three long years, but the storm got worse and worse and the world was winning.
One day, Izuku went to fish and the creature that caught his hook was so large, it dragged him into the icy waters and the current was too powerful for him to escape. He thought he was done for. He was scared, cold, alone, and then Kacchan saved him. Izuku couldn't believe it.
"K-Kacchan?!" Izuku had woken up in a warm tent surrounded by soft blankets and people he didn't recognize.
"So it is you!" Katsuki actually looked relieved. "WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN ALL THIS TIME, HUH?!" He scolded him. "I THOUGHT YOU WERE FUCKING DEAD!"
"Huh?! Isn't that what you wanted?!"
"ARE YOU STUPID?! WHY WOULD I HAVE WANTED THAT?!”
“EVERYBODY WANTED THAT!!!”
Katsuki stared at him for a long moment before sighing deeply. “That’s… sorry…”
“Huh?”
“I said I’m sorry! I was an idiot! Everyone was an idiot!”
They spent a long time catching up on what they missed. Their town got the worst of the winter storms and were desolate. Katsuki had to make do and find his own way to survive. He took Kuro and set off on his journeys for a more habitable land. And made friends along the way.
He introduced him to everyone and Izuku was wary of meeting all these new people. They were alphas or betas and he worried they would hate him too. But they warmed up to him fast and knew a surprisingly lot about him.
“You’re the famous Deku, huh?”
“Wow! You’re a looker!”
“No wonder he wouldn’t stop looking for you!”
“CAN IT!” Katsuki screamed as his ears turned red. Apparently Kacchan would tell them a lot of stories from when they were kids.
After spending the night with them and indulging in the food they gave him, Izuku packed his things.
“Where do you think you’re going?!” Katsuki grabbed his arm before he could leave the tent.
“Um… to my home?” Izuku blinked.
“You idiot. This is your home now.” Katsuki grumbled. “Come with us. We found a path to a country where the sun comes out!”
“B-but I’m a bad omen, aren’t I?” Izuku said nervously. “I can’t bring everything you’ve worked for all these years down! I can survive on my own!”
“But you don’t have to! What did I tell you? We were all idiots who believed old wives tales!”
“Besides…” Katsuki grabbed his hand and pulled him toward him till their faces were inches apart. “I know one way you can be useful.”
Izuku hadn’t processed what he meant before he agreed. He couldn’t fathom that Kacchan would want him THAT way.
Kacchan who grew up so mature and strong and handsome. The chief who led a strong pack and could have any omega he wanted. Izuku was just grateful for the protection, for the food, for the company. Finding Kacchan again and joining him on his journeys was a dream.
He was more than happy to give him whatever he wanted if it meant he could join them on their journeys. It was an easy trade off to give. Izuku was mortified at first but their first time was sweet and gentle and he enjoyed himself very much.
He was just glad he could be useful even if it was to help Kacchan with his… urges. Despite what the pack assured him over and over, Izuku went above and beyond to prove the he deserved to travel with them despite his lowly status as a male omega.
This week in particular, was nerve wrecking for him. He did everything he could to hide his scent. He tried to distance himself from Kacchan as he worked diligently every morning on the present he prepared for him in hopes it would be enough to soften the blow.
Izuku pulled out his knitting needles and began to work on the scarf he had been making for Kacchan. It was a scarlet red that matched his eyes. It was made with the finest material he could find at the market place they visited.
He pouted every ounce of his feelings into that scarf. Every happy memory, all his affection and all of his gratitude. He hoped Kacchan would understand. He hoped Kacchan would accept him. He hoped and hoped and hoped that everything would still be okay. Because he was pregnant.
He knew his chance of survival was low. He knew he would need extra care and he would hold everyone back. But he grew attached to Kacchan and everyone else. He didn’t want to leave. He didn’t want to be outcast again. He pathetically hoped against all odds, it would be okay.
"Woah, what's that?!" Rody's voice startled him.
"Ah!" Izuku quickly stuffed the scarf back in his bag as Kuro growled at the beta.
"Oh, sorry! I didn't mean to scare you. Is this what you get up to every morning?" He questioned.
"I didn't wake you, did I?" Izuku blinked.
"Come on, don't change the subject." Rody laughed as he plopped on the log next to him. "What were you working on?"
"Nothing." Izuku blushed and turned away from him.
"Was that for the chief?" The beta teased.
"I said it's nothing!" Izuku snapped.
"Alright. Sorry. Sheesh." Rody held his hands up.
"No... I'm sorry." Izuku grumbled. "It's just... something I don't really want to talk about."
"You know you don't have to go above and beyond for him, right? Full offense, the chief is pathetically obsessed with you."
"I don't really know how Kacchan feels about me." Izuku said as he wrapped his arms around Kuro's neck to keep him from biting his friend. The majestic wolf had become attuned to his emotions since his pup was conceived. If anyone upset him, they were sure to feel his wrath.
"But I'm extremely grateful that he brought me along with you guys. I... I just don't want him to ever think I'm not."
"Deku." Rody grabbed his hand. "We're all happy to have you here. Especially the chief. Sleeping in every once in awhile isn't gonna change that."
"Stop bothering him, bird head!" Katsuki snapped as he marched over angrily from the tent.
"Kacchan!" Izuku retracted his hand from Rody quickly. "Good morning!" His anxiety spiked as he realized how exposed his scent glad was due to him leaving his hat in the tent.
Kuro greeted his master with a low warning growl the closer he got.
"WHAT?!" Katsuki snapped at his wolf who barked back.
"I think he's just having a grumpy morning." Izuku giggled nervously.
"More like a grumpy month." Katsuki grumbled. "You'd think you were his master."
Izuku smiled then stood up to check on his pot of water. He grabbed two mugs and made some tea for the two of them.
"Sit down. I can make it." Katsuki put his hand on his back, startling him.
"It's fine Kacchan!" Izuku stepped away quickly, not wanting to be too close.
He lost his balance and almost fell before Katsuki caught him by the waist.
"Careful!"
"Th- thank you!" Izuku wiggled out of his grasp. "I-I should wake the others!"
"De-" Katsuki called after him as he ran back to the tent. But it was no use. "Damnit!" He cursed to himself.
"Birdhead! Did Deku... say anything was bothering him?" Izuku had been avoiding him for two weeks now. He even rejected his "duties" which Katsuki always insisted he was allowed to and should do more if he ever doesn't feel up to it but STILL. It wasn't like him.
"Not really, why?" Rody questioned.
"None of your business." Katsuki growled.
"Okay then. Guess I won't tell you what I know." Rody sang while sipping his tea.
"TELL ME NOW DAMNIT!"
"Sorry cheif. It's clearly not my place to say." He snickered.
"Fine." Katsuki stomped over to him and plopped down on the log. "Deku'sbeenavoidingmeandidontknowwhy." He grumbled begrudgingly.
"What was that?" Rody put his hand to his ear.
"I said Deku's blowing me off and I don't know why, alright?! So if you know anything, tell me!"
"Oh... well I don't know anything about that. He was just talking about how grateful he is to all of us. His usual spiel and stuff." Rody shrugged as he subtly moved Izuku's bag with the scarf behind him. "He did something kind of funny though."
"What?!"
"He said he doesn't know how you feel about him." Rody laughed. "Which is nuts if you ask me."
"HUH?!" Katsuki froze in shock. How could that be possible? Did he not make it perfectly clear that he would move the entire world for him?
Did he not worship every inch of his body when they were in bed together? Was he not careful enough in how he spoke to him? How could Izuku not know?
"Baaaaah!" Toshinori plopped next to him as all the animals made their way to the fire pit for warmth.
“He’s avoiding you too, huh?” Katsuki pouted as he rubbed his large horns. Because of Kuro’s newfound attachment to Izuku, even Toshinori was unable to get close to him without the wolf losing his mind.
“Baaaah!”
“Oh boy, I’m starved.” Kirishima stretched as he left the tent.
Soon everyone else followed except Aizawa who always slept in later than most. Izuku stuck close to Shoto who he had been awfully clingy to lately. Almost using him as a shield. If Katsuki invited Izuku anywhere, he always invited Shoto along too.
But Katsuki was sick of this. He needed to get down to the bottom of what his soon to be mate was really thinking. He paused for a moment at that thought. Did Izuku even know that he obviously wanted them to be mated one day? Was he really that oblivious???!
“Yo. Shitty Hair.” Katsuki approached his close friend as he served himself some tea.
“Morning man. What’s up?”
“You have a mate back home, right?” Katsuki whispered.
“Yeah! She’s the best!” Eijiro grinned. “Hopefully we find this place quick then I can grab her!”
“How did you make it clear you loved her or whatever?” Katsuki grumbled.
“Oh…” Eijiro smiled pitifully. “This is about Midoriya, isn’t it?”
“Birdhead said some shit like he doesn’t know how I feel and I don’t know what fuck I’m doing wrong?!” Katsuki sulked.
“Have you…told him?” Eijiro blinked.
“I asked him to bed with me! Doesn’t that say enough?” Katsuki grumbled. He wasn’t somebody who just slept with any old person! Being intimate with someone was something extremely important to him.
“You asked him? Or you demanded it?”
“I mean I said I want him and in exchange I’ll protect him, isn’t that… Fuck.” Katsuki hung his head low as he realized how Izuku could have misunderstood him completely this whole time. “Does he think I’m using him?!”
“Dude, that’s pretty much how you explained it to him.”
“But that was just an excuse!”
“Oh boy. You have a lot to clear up!” Eijiro insisted. “Go over there and tell him how you really feel! With your words, Katsuki! Like a man!”
Katsuki stared at Izuku as he seemed lost in thought while the others talked around him.
Shit. This whole time he thought he had a mate while Izuku thought he was his own personal sex slave! He fucked up terribly. No wonder the omega was avoiding him. He was probably tired of what he saw as a transactional relationship or WORSE, he was scared of him.
Katsuki took a deep breath as he knew what he had to do.
“Izuku…” He said nervously as he approached him.
“Yes?” Izuku stood up right away, startled by him addressing him by his actual name.
“Can we talk in the tent.”
“Kacchan…”
“JUST talk, I swear…”
Izuku looked at Shoto who motioned for him to go with Katsuki and he nodded nervously.
The two walked in silence as Izuku fussed with his hat. Tying the bottom strings as tight as he could so the flaps covered his neck.
“Um… is everything okay?” He questioned.
Katsuki stared at him for a long moment trying to find the best way to say how he feels.
“Kacchan?”
“Shut up! I’m thinking!” Katsuki blurted out.
“Okay? Sorry?” Izuku’s anxiety was growing by the second. Did he figure it out? Was he trying to find a nice way to abandon him?
“No… don’t apologize.” Katsuki blushed. “I… I’m an idiot. And I thought maybe I grew up or something and when I found you it would be different this time. But I keep fucking up, Izuku. I keep… I’m sorry. I’m not fucking good at this!”
“Kacchan, you’re wonderful!”
“No!”
Katsuki put his hands on his shoulder. “I don’t think you get it! You don’t get how much I-”
“NO! CHIBI NEKO! STOP!”
The two looked at each other before rushing out of the tent to see what the commotion was about as Rody screamed after Shinso’s cat.
There were three cats in the pack. Katsuki didn’t bother to learn their names and dubbed Shinso’s cat “Chibi Neko”, Aizawa’s “Neko” and Shoto’s leopard “Okina Neko”. Everyone followed suit because it was easier.
Izuku felt his stomach drop when he saw what Rody was screaming at.
Chibi Neko was playing with the scarf that he had been working on every morning for two weeks.
“NO!” Izuku screamed as he ran toward the cat with tears in his eyes. “Please! Stop! Chibi-chan! Please put that down!” He tried to catch her but she was fast.
And the further she ran, the more the scarf came undone.
“Chibi! Enough!” Shinso grabbed her by the scruff causing her to drop the scarf before she scratched him and ran off. “I’m sorry Midoriya! I’ll try to watch her more… Midoriya?”
Izuku couldn’t help but be overwhelmed by his emotions as he picked up what was left of his handiwork. He didn’t know if it was the hormones or what..but he put every ounce of hope he had into this scarf and just like that, it was ruined. He held himself and sobbed to the floor.
“Deku!” Katsuki ran by his side and held him as he was obviously distressed. “Hey, what’s the matter?”
“No… you’re not supposed to see it yet.” Izuku sniffled. “You’re supposed to… it was supposed to be a gift.”
Katsuki grabbed the remainder the scarf from Shinso’s hands.
“You were making this for me?” Katsuki pulled the scarf to his nose. It smelled like Izuku. But the scent was different.
“I should have known not to leave it unattended when the animals were out… I thought since Rody was there, it would be fine. I can’t do anything right!”
“Hey! That’s not true!” Katsuki observed what he had so far and admired all the details that went into the embroidery. “Is this why you’ve been avoiding me? Cause you were working hard on this and didn’t want me to see?”
“I just… wanted you to know how grateful I am.”
“You’ve done so much for me and… and I won’t be able to do much for you anymore.” Izuku decided to rip off the bandaid. There was no point. If he was going to back to his old life, he might as well go now before he got his hopes up again. “I’m…”
He grabbed Katsuki’s hand and put it on his stomach. “I’m expecting. I know it’s sudden. I know it’s going to be difficult for me but I want to try my best. I hoped you could be happy. I know I’m going to be a burden but-”
Katsuki interrupted him with a firm kiss.
“Izuku…” The alpha teared up as he caressed his face with the utmost reverence, as if he was holding the most rare gem in all of the land. “You’re…. pregnant? We’re… we’re gonna have a pup?”
“Yes. I hope that’s okay! I hope-”
Katsuki kissed him intensely again.
“Of course that’s fine! Of course it’s… FUCK! Here I go again, not saying the damn truth. Izuku, I love you!”
“Y-you do?” The omega was completely taken aback. Katsuki tried not to beat himself up over just how shocked he was as he pushed forward.
“Yes.” Katsuki put their foreheads together as he breathed in his new scent. Peppermint and pine cone with a milky aroma. He was going to have a pup, he was going to have THEIR PUP. “Ever since you left our town, I felt empty until I found you again, I never stopped looking.”
“I was an asshole who didn’t know what he had until it was gone. When I made that bargain with you, it was just an excuse. I just wanted to be close with you even if I didn’t deserve it. But damnit, I love you.” Katsuki kissed him over and over again.
“And I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure you deliver a healthy pup and WE live together as a happy family. We’re all here to care for you Izuku. I don’t care what the odds are. You’re surviving this. And I’ll be with you every step of the way, as your mate if y-”
“Yes!” Izuku cried in happiness. “Yes! I’ll be your mate! And I love you too! I…. I hoped you would be able to feel it when I gave you the scarf. I… I want to have a happy family with you too.” He threw his arms around Katsuki and they held each other as the snow fell.
Toshinori and Kuro surrounded them and kept them warm as they basked in their new happpiness.

One Month Later
Katsuki held his mate, Izuku’s hand tight as he wore the beautiful scarf he made him.
“It’s real, huh?” He said, bewildered as they finally reached their destination
“How long has it been since you’ve seen it?” Izuku pulled a flower out of the grass that surrounded them on the sunny field that engulfed the countryside.
“The sun? 2 and a half years at least.”
“No.” Izuku wrapped his arms around him and smiled wide. “Hope.”
“Oh. That?” Katsuki grinned wide as he dipped him and kissed him passionately causing him to giggle. “I see it every day when I look at you.”
“I’m glad.” Izuku caressed his cheek. “That’s a good name, don’t you think?”
“Yeah… Hope.”
“I can’t wait to meet her.”

Bakugo Katsuki seethed in anger as he watched his landlord bow repeatedly.
"I'm so sorry Bakugou-san. I know your move in day was supposed to be today. But unfortunately the loft you were approved for was purchased outright!"
"AND YOU'RE JUST TELLING ME THIS NOW?!" Katsuki snapped. After years of blood, sweat and tears at a top university. He got hired for his dream job, teaching at his alma mater, UA High School. The problem was the area was far more expensive than what he could afford.
He sold his car, and took up three part time jobs over the summer in order to afford a decent loft close to the school. He found this one for a practical steal due to the complex having new ownership. He was supposed to move in this weekend, right before the school year began.
The interview started out alright. But Izuku was anxious which made his hero partner, Kacchan, on edge which meant if the reporter asked the question he knew was coming, her life span was about to end.
“So, Deku-San.” She pried.
“Y-yes?” Izuku’s leg started shaking and Kacchan firmly gripped his knee under the table to remind him he was supported.
“Uravity and Ingenium just had their pup which they named after you. How do you feel about that?”
“I’m very honored that they would do such a thing!”
Izuku said as confidently as he could sound.
“Yes, it is an honor to name their child after the number one hero. The first omega to take the spot, along with you of course DynaMight.” The reporter said happily. “But the world can’t help but wonder-”
#bkdk#drama#angst (Happy End as always) One sided Kr///Bk, DkHawks. Bkdk endgame.
Izuku was happy. Happier than he had ever been. Ever since him and Kacchan went on a trip together between their second and third year at UA, their relationship blossomed into something special.
They weren’t quite a couple yet, but it was only a matter of time. It was like every moment together was bumbling with electricity. He walked away from every interaction out of breath, heart racing, face flushed and incredibly happy. He loved Kacchan and he was sure…
He was sure Kacchan loved him. There were several moments on their trip together where he swore they almost kissed. Every training match became so charged with flirtatious remarks that All Might insisted he wait outside until they were done.
The bell rang indicating class was over and Bakugo Katsuki already had his things packed. He threw his bag over his shoulder and walked past the empty desk in front of him. He rushed past the missing posters in the hallway.
He ignored the face of his childhood friend that played on every news station as he got on the train. He put his headphones on so he couldn't hear the whispers and the gossip of people who swore they saw him. He ignored his mother's text scolding him for staying out late. Again.
He got off the train and stepped on several more missing posters that were littered on the floor. Looks like they spread their search area. A missing omega was a big deal after all. Their chances of being trafficked, or kidnapped or murdered were high.
