As the warm story-inspiring light of #Sagittarius dissipates, we feel the darkness creep around us w/ our days shortening.
At the pt. of the shortest day, where night & darkness would seem to prevail, we step into the mystery & power that is #Capricorn
From a spiritual point of view, #Capricorn symbolizes that moment when the darkness of matter SEEMS to prevail over the light.
Of course, like much of what I will say about #Capricorn, you must not be taken in by how things...seem.
During the 3 long nights that darkness/matter seems to rule, the light is preparing its comeback on the 3rd day…
…beginning its long trek back to an ascendancy it won't complete until six months later in #Cancer, the polarity of #Capricorn.
(This is why we have the demarcations of Tropics of #Cancer & #Capricorn on maps to track the Sun's apex & nadir, respectively)
Of course, this story of the #Sun we now tell as the birth of the Son at #Christmas. In more ancient times, it was Saturnalia.
& a host of other names 4 other Suns/Sons like Mithras, Krishna, Heru/Horus or Jesus/Isa ibn/ben Maryam/Mary (the sea).
It's no accident that Mary is named for the "star of the sea," & that Christ, according to myth, is born as the Sun ascends…
...in #Capricorn. #Capricorn is not just the goat, but the sea-goat. This is very important for a multitude of reasons.
The 1st reason: #Capricorn captures the story of the ascendancy of creatures from the SEA, its lowest depths, to creatures…
...on mountaintops, the highest natural heights, for terrestrial life. #Capricorn
This captures a key idea of #Capricorn: the principle of evolution, transformation from creature of the sea to mountain.
#Capricorn symbolizes the journey of consciousness from a limitless sea of possibility to the wisdom of constructive knowledge.
It is the challenge of #Capricorn to construct possibility into probability, navigating uncertainty w/ a mission/plan/destiny.
This taps into the nether-depths of #Capricorn's patron Saturn, who signals the perseverance & discipline to get to the top.
& the top for #Capricorn ≠ society's idea of the top. It represents a desire for "peak experience" in the world.
This is, at least, 1 of the reasons why #Capricorn isn't just abt ruthless ambition. There are 2 types of #Capricorns generally.
Both #Capricorns seek out this process of evolution of "peak experience" in the world via the idea of time.
Some #Capricorns live with too much awareness of time, so they seek to get to a "top" in a hurry based on societal outlooks.
Other #Capricorns seek to embody/evolve into time, so they may be late bloomers, seeking to enjoy life as they evolve.
This even makes more sense when you remember Saturn, #Cap's patron, is also Chronos, ancient word for time itself.
One story that's used to illustrate this lesson of the #GoatFish is Rip Van Winkle.
His wife believed time should be compressed to get to the top. But Rip was the other type of #Capricorn who wanted to savor time.
Ended up falling asleep in a mountain for 100 years, became a celebrity beyond his wife's dreams.
The other mystery about the #GoatFish is that in many myths, this creature is believed to be the earliest teachers of humankind.
In fact, both the ancient Sumerians & Dogon ppl of W. Africa speak of a sea-people who taught humanity from the sea. #Capricorn
This goes along w/ idea that the earliest givers of the Laws of life were these sea people or even #SeaGoat people. #Capricorn
This is why some Christian iconography, Moses & other prophets, are pictured w/ small goat horns: bit.ly/UmPCAJ
In fact, the name #Capricorn means "goat horn," related to the term capricious and cornucopia.
At first, this seems at odds with popular ideas of #Capricorn that many ignore on the surface.
The #cornucopia, as the horn of plenty, speaks of the sea of possibilities that swirls beneath the surface of #Capricorn.
This speaks of both the creativity, fecundity and "horniness" of #Capricorn that's not discussed enough.
Somehow #Capricorn has gotten this reputation of being prudes or too repressed. You fell for the #presskit, yo.
And "capricious" also captures the "whimsical" nature that's beneath the surface for #Capricorn. They can be very whimsical.
In fact, you can think about the Greek god & horny satyr #Pan here as a symbol for #Capricorn, replete w/ goat horns & legs!
The other manifestation of the #goat in #Capricorn is as scapegoat in culture.
A lot of ppl project their sins & shortcomings on #Capricorn, bestowing more darkness on creatures born to evolve into light.
Of course, I'm not giving a free pass on scapegoating #Capricorn, but this might explain the nature of why & how it happens.
I've seen it with my own two eyes. #Capricorn can get burdened with so much more that has NOTHING to do w/ them.
Just ask #Capricorn Michelle Obama, for example. #Sigh
That doesn't mean that they're angels who floated down from heaven, but those around them oft overlook their own shortcomings.
Take #Capricorn Richard Nixon. Much of the good he did as President has been overshadowed by #Watergate.
Of course, he was at the head of #Watergate, but he wasn't the only. Was more about a country losing its "sense of innocence."
I have a #Capricorn rising client who people attack for pretty much no reason except their own insecurities & fears.
This Scapegoat idea is definitely something that has a parallel WITHIN a #Capricorn too.
This relates to the sense of #destiny that #Capricorns seem to feel, almost fall into, from a young age.
Sometimes this sense of #destiny sounds fantastical and egoistic in its worse moments. Or when you don't feel like hearing it.
But in its better moments, #Capricorn reminds us all that we have someplace that we need to be, that we're destined to get to.
A lighter example of this is how #Capricorn Colin Morgan's "Merlin" is always talking about his "destiny."
A more profound example is from #Capricorn Martin Luther King, Jr. He felt shadowed by destiny for service…& death.
FTR, I make a distinction btwn fate & destiny. Fate are your given circumstances. Destiny is what you make of them.
Destiny is an act of creation. #Capricorn
#Fate has two hands. One of them is your own. When you work that hand, you are creating #destiny.
At some level, the #Capricorn realizes this, like Dr. King, and stops feeling picked on & embraces feeling chosen.
#Capricorn also has two faces. This is testified by even the month that has the most #Capricorn days--January.
January is named for the Roman god of doorways, Janus, who looks both forward & backward, from origin to destiny. #Capricorn
This is why #Capricorn bears the distinction of being Old Man Time on Dec. 31 and Baby New Year on Jan. 1.
FYI: The New Year was not always Jan. 1 and it's not the New Year everywhere in the world.
In this sense, #Capricorn embodies both understanding the sea of origin--the past & tradition & having a plan away from it.
This requires all the other things associated w/ #Capricorn that I mentioned--endurance, stability, determination, etc.
Perhaps the most impressive thing abt #Capricorn, what I personally look up to, is that they'll be still up when all else fall.
For instance, just think about #Capricorn @llcoolj. He's the only rapper of his era who has stayed producing/evolving.
#Capricorn Muhammad Ali became a three time heavyweight boxing champion...against all odds.
Or you could think about the longevity of the careers of Mary J. Blige, Denzel Washington,Jon Voight, Anthony Hopkins, Sade,
Annie Lennox, George Foreman, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Mary Tyler Moore, Betty White, Zora Neale Hurston, Jude Law, Nicholas Cage, or Jim Carrey
Same goes for the many controversial lives of #Capricorns Kirstie Alley, Rush Limbaugh, David Bowie, Jim Bakker, or Howard Stern
Want more? Take #Cap Susan Lucci, from All My Children, who basically had to be retired by cancelling the show after 41 years
We also have to mention the enduring love that people have for #Capricorn Elvis as the King of Rock & Roll.
In fact, many people refuse to believe that the King is dead. I guess the same seems to go for crazy #Cappy Andy Kaufman too.
#Capricorns are believed to have won more Academy Awards than perhaps any sign of the #Zodiac.
As I've said before, people like to count #Leos out too soon. But you should never count a #Capricorn out.
And I do extend that to those w/ strong #Capricorn in their charts, including the moon, Mars, Venus, and the ascendant
This is one reason why I put #Capricorn in something I call the #ZodiacMafia. More on that here:
So if you're hater of a #Capricorn, then you must like your popcorn (& life) salty as all get out. Get on wit' yo' life, for real.
That's not to say that they always deserve where they get or they can't fall. Ask #Capricorns Nixon or J. Edgar Hoover.
But they seem to have a tenacity to keep on going where many would normally or likely fall off.
It helps they're pretty nerdy too, like Isaac Asimov,Isaac Newton, Nate Silver, J. Kepler, @djolder & J.R. Tolkien
And some have the beauty, brains or business acumen to scale their #Cap mountains, like Michelle Obama or Madam CJ Walker
Essentially, the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune ain't enough to deter the determination & talents of #Capricorn
What may be frustrating & even depressing for many #Capricorns though is the time required to scale their mountains.
But it does seem that the hardest part of the climb is early on for #Capricorns. Many take awhile to grow into themselves.
So many might start off so serious about themselves or the world when younger, seeming older than their years. #Capricorn
But patience & wisdom of the years appear to lighten the heavy sack of yearning a #Cap has. Giving youthfulness & vitality
In fact, #Capricorns often seem to look even better as they grow older, settling more into their bodies & their lives.
And that reveals the real "evolution" of #Capricorn is not abt climbing the world to conquer it, but to go where #Sag only saw.
#Capricorn is the moment we come against the limits of ourselves to discover the most unique aspect of who we are & can be.
A #Capricorn may impose limits on themselves to feed their fear of becoming other than what society dares them to be.
This may be one reason why some #Capricorns are underachievers, underperformers, or underdress.
However, if a #Capricorn can get beyond that fear, even if it means financial ruin, they lay the groundwork for #Aquarius.
Speaking of limits, this seems like a good place to stop this discussion on #Capricorn.
Of course, all these things depend on the dynamics of your own personal horoscope, not just one sign. This is a general guide.

The journey into #Scorpio will start a lil different. Let's start with the fact that I never wanted to be one.
Being born on this mythical creature called the cusp btwn Scorpio & Sagittarius (Nov. 22). It was a no brainer for me: I was a Centaur.
If I had to select one. I mean, wouldn't a sane person rather choose to be a Centaur than a bug? #Scorpio

Okay, I'm Muslim, and I understand that some Muslim women wear a niqab (face covering except for the eyes) with their hijab. But what is the point of that on a dating site? #Sigh
So far being on Muslima.com has been the most bizarre of online dating experiences. I've already fended off scammer with a very elaborate scam. She confessed to it when I busted her in straight-up lie. (She put up an obviously doctored passport.)
And more interest from folks, but bizarre set-ups, like 28 yo women looking for a man 30-80. When asked why they are interested in marrying an 80 yo, they respond, "Love has no age."

In #Virgo, we have the representation of the harvest, of the moment of separating the wheat from the chaff.
We can be content to analyze the various differences and components. We can be efficient, precise, and attentive to process.
In #Virgo, we are in preparation mode for the coldness to come.

There's a lesson here, and it's not about Cawthorn's taste in fashion or having fun. It's more related to the saying, "Don't bring a knife to a gunfight." It seems Cawthorn showed up with an envelope opener instead.
The one thing I've observed in all my years on social media is when you get dragged, it's often less about your enemies, but more about the friends who decide to stop protecting you. Or who just outright turn on you and throw you to the wolves. I believe this has happened here.
Cawthorn somehow thought he was in the position to set his GOP colleagues on fire with his own self-righteousness. Cool, if you've been squeaky clean yourself. But that's not often the case.

That's an ancient idea, advanced in "Western" culture in the Myth of Er. You can think of it as more a symbiote, guiding you. We are forgetful vessels with the Daemon to remind us of who we are and our purpose.
Just the opposite for me, though. A tree can have hundreds of thousands of leaves, never in the same place, in its lifetime but we have a Cosmos that needs to keep one individual soul over many lifetimes? That's a pretty poor Cosmos. Best to surface new buds.
We serve a Cosmos that seeks to know itself, not for us to know ourselves. At least that's what makes sense to me.

There's no doubt that astrology is controversial AF as @conduitofhealin says. In fact, I think astrologers could benefit MORE from debating each other. But we too often descend into arguing. Those are not the same.
I know, I know. Why can't we all do whatever we feel called to do? Or say whatever we feel called to say? Well, there are at least two good reasons: a non-astrologically educated public AND astrology is as much an art of reason as it is intuition.
So, it's important for astrologers to make sense of what they say, not just go with what sounds good. It's why I always emphasize #KnowYourWhy in all my classes.
