One thing that sucks funding your child’s #autism therapy privately in this weird “not post Covid but we’re pretending” world is having to make the call of him staying home. Does he stay home with a runny nose? #COVID19 #onpoli

The for profit company who provides his therapy charges us $600 for an afternoon of the therapy time regardless so we start to do the “how sick is too sick game”. He’s negative for Covid, no fever, he’s no longer coughing but How sick is too sick? #autism #onpoli #covid

And despite all the promises the boy is still privately funded, 6 years after his diagnosis. We’re not at the $86,000 a year in therapy costs we were but it’s still about $45,000. Privately. With no help. #autism #onpoli #covid

Privatizing care, having parent’s mortgage their homes means parents will have to make health care a financial choice. “Can I afford my rent if I can’t go to work” turns into “can I afford to pay for therapy he can’t go to and not go to work”. #autism #onpoli #covid

I have friends who scape together money for one or two therapy hours a month. And now Lisa MacLeod’s choices mean they chose between losing that money and not working or sending their child to therapy sick. That’s not a fair choice. #autism #covid #onpoli

It’s a shame @TheAgenda and @spaikin decided to focus only on Lisa MacLeod’s personal narrative around mental health issues and not on the mental and physical health issues she has helped cause #onpoli #covid #autism

Hopefully @spaikin and @TheAgenda does better & reaches out to families Lisa et al have hurt. that doesn’t seem to be the goal of @TheAgenda now. So while Lisa continues her redemption tour I will try to make up hours I lost & the $600 we spent without therapy. #onpoli #Autism

And btw we do know these were her choices. She had other options. she choose to gut the program for #autism right @fordnation ? You were involved in that. That’s been leaked. I wish #onpoli journalists would actually follow up on the leaks they’ve been given.

And honestly if Lisa MacLeod wants a redemption arch. If she wants to be considered anything but a failed politician who enjoyed hurting children she needs to step back from things like @TheAgenda and take ownership of what she did to disabled children. #autism #onpoli

Lisa - start with seriously thinking about what you did & why. Why did you mock parents, why did you agree to gutting the OAC & then fight against the legit criticism? Before you are redeemed you need to apologize and before that you need to own what you did. You cant skip steps.
