Strange events in #Iran tonight

Looks like a dose of their own medicine with reports of a drone attack on a Ministry of Defence building in the city of #Isfahan.

This is said to be an ammunition production centre.
2/3

Media in #Iran also reporting an oil processing plant in the Salimi industrial area in the city of #Azarshahr in #Tabriz is spectacularly ablaze.
3/3

And one more video from the crazy scenes in #Iran tonight.
Now a video which is impossible to verify.
Allegedly #Iran's air defence shooting things down during the attack tonight.

Many pointing out the Head of the CIA has been in #Israel. If Israel did attack Iran it's unsubtle and I can't see US being pleased.
#Iran - more photos of air defence
The huge fire burning in northern #Iran - presumably the oil terminal in #Tabriz.
Visible from many miles away, gives you an idea of the scale.

#IranRevoIution
#Iran's authorities say no one died and only one person was injured in the fire at the oil refinery.

However a fire truck also managed to be set ablaze while tackling the blaze.
Some reporting the fire at the oil terminal in the northern #Tabriz area of #Iran may have been caused by an earthquake in the region.

Local channels show damage from the reported quake.
Smoke rising in #Iran.

This seems likely connected to the fire at the oil refinery in the north of the country, but I cannot verify it.
Earthquake affecting northern #Iran confirmed by my resident Volcano and Seismic specialist!

So a lot of speculation that the drone which hit an #Iran MOD plant came from #Azerbaijan.

Some channels say yesterday there was apparently an attack on the Azeri embassy there, while today staff appear to be packing up and leaving, though this video is a bit sketchy.
My best guess at this stage is the fires and explosions in the north are purely down to the earthquake.

The strike on #Iran's Ministry of Defence factory is probably not part of a wide attack as most media are speculating.
There are unconfirmed reports of explosions in #Iran at military bases in Hamadan and Kereja.

Another drone factory is also said to have been hit, but again I have no confirmation.
#Iran says 3 people died in the earthquake in #Khoy in the north-west of the country.

Meanwhile the Iranian regime says 3 drones were shot down.

No mention of potential attacks elsewhere.
Photos from the earthquake in north-west #Iran.

A few people saying "it's not a big earthquake", but many buildings in this region are not able to withstand even relatively minor quakes.
I wrote about rumours of explosions in #Hamedan/#Hamadan province.

The best I can find is this blurry video with soundtrack, said to be taken in the city around 300km west of #Tehran.

Doubt anyone can geolocate it nor verify if it is even from today, but could be.
#Iran's Minister of the Interior and the Head of the @RedCrescent departing for the areas affected by the earthquake

As I've been saying, some of the reported "attacks" or "explosions" in #Iran are just not backed up with evidence (at least yet).

One of these rumours was about #Rasht, which I did not report, but others did. Looks like a fake...

Good morning and I hope you are all well.

Yes, I'm back again for another daily thread, with all the important news from Ukraine and Russia in one handy thread, every single day.

DMs open for your tip-offs; please help to keep Ukraine in the news, share, re-post, reply etc.
So, Day 1303 gets underway, but first the link back to 1302 and Wednesday's news feed.

A lot of stuff covered, but forgive me for my favourite moment being the British King lecturing a wannabe king about support for Ukraine.

Only a 65% success rate for Ukraine's air defence last night.

75 drones were launched by Russia, initially at eastern areas, then attacking Kyiv later in the night.
One UAV is still flying, of the others, Ukraine brought down 48.

Hits occurred in 6 places according to Ukraine. Image

Wednesday. Day 1302 of the illegal war started by Russia.

For all the fact-checked news about Ukraine, analysis not sugar-coated, and honest appraisals of the situation, trust an expert who isn't here for clicks (if I was I'd post lies & gory videos).

Thanks for being #TeamTim
Yesterday an astonishing report from Yale showing Russia forcing kidnapped kids to work in drone factories, how Croatia may have embarrassed the Putin/ Hungary/Slovakia axis.

Those and many more stories in Tuesday's thread, click here to review:

2-3 weeks ago, Russia started copying Ukraine's attacks on railway infrastructure and is having success.

At night, Ukrzaliznytsia substations were hit, causing power losses firing the rail network.

Over 20 passenger trains were on affected routes, but there are no casualties. Image

Day 1301 of Ukraine fighting for its survival. The right to be free, speak their own language, worship in their own churches, to learn their own history.

A history of long suppression by Russia.
As war crimes grow daily, the words "never again" don't seem to apply.
Here's the🧵
Yesterday began, and ended, with Russia attacking Zaporizhzhia, injuring civilians.

Also, the head of the IAEA disgraced himself in Russia's arms, changes of 🇺🇦army leadership, and how a Russian guy was a Putin opponent, until 3 mins after being elected.

First though a breaking news after a number of morning attacks by Russia, particularly in Kyiv region.

This is in the town of Fastiv where a logistics centre for the electronic retail company EpiCentre (EpiTsentr).

Residents are warned of potential air pollution. Image

Day 1300 of Putin's war.
Another 100 days of fighting completed.
We are no nearer peace than we were 100 days ago.

Almost 200 days ago Trump demanded a 30-day unconditional ceasefire.
Not surprising as he started it, it's always Putin stopping peace.

Here's Monday's daily🧵
If you were busy over the weekend, click the link to see all Sunday's stories.

It was a day when Ukraine had to quickly repair a main railway line after a massive explosion, but they also managed to make multiple hits on Russia's rail and oil industries

The overnight bombardment from Russia remained lower than usual, although 84 drones and 3 S-300 missiles caused a fair bit of damage on 'soft' targets

With 59 UAVs stopped, that's a 70% success rate.
None of the missiles was intercepted either

The 28 hits occurred in 13 places Image

Day 1299 - the daily thread starts here, covering all things to do with the illegal invasion of Ukraine by its demonic neighbour.

Plenty to catch up on due to the late start today.
So no time to waste, let's go...
Apologies for the much later start than intended, due to a few technical issues, as well as Dad's Taxi being booked for a rescue mission😂

Before we look at today's events, here's the link back to Saturday's thread:

At the end of yday's thread, I wrote about what was a probable Russian strike on Kyiv's railway.

Ukraine's Gen Staff doesn't say it was an attack but admits a "detonation of ammunition on a train carrying military cargo"

Accidents happen, but either way it's a clear blow.

Hello on Day 1298 of Russia's full invasion of its sovereign neighbour. So, only 1295 days late in fulfilling the boast of taking Kyiv in 3 days. #EATP for Putin.

I've compiled a🧵every single day without fail.
You can help my work with a boost, comment, re-post or a coffee🙏
Friday saw more important visitors arrive in Kyiv (and another familiar place is in Ukraine today).

There was more solidarity and practical support, while Russia suffered more oil woes.

If you missed anything, click and scroll here:

I'll start in Odesa, because that's where the familiar face has turned up.

He was planning to return to Ukraine a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't make it, but now Boris is back.
Loved by nearly all Ukrainians, his early arrival (with Lord Ashcroft) meant he avoids the crowds. Image
