Invaders consciously and purposefully commit #ecocide - they cannot keep the occupied territories, so they want to leave behind them an uninhabitable land. 1/5
For almost a year of full-scale war:
▶️ the water level in the Kakhov reservoir fell to the lowest level in the last three decades. This endangers the supply of drinking water, agricultural production and the safety of the #ZNPP;
2/5
▶️ 20% of nature conservation areas of Ukraine with a total area of about 1 million hectares were affected;
▶️ 2.9 million hectares of the Emerald Network are at risk - territories that need protection at the European level;
3/5
▶️ under occupation - 8 nature reserves and 10 national natural parks;
▶️ About 3 million hectares of Ukrainian forests have been affected by the war. Approximately 23,300 hectares of them were burned, some were lost;
4/5
▶️ more than 680.6 thousand tons of petroleum products were burned, which polluted the air with dangerous substances;
▶️ Demining requires approximately 200k km². Mine explosions lead to soil contamination, sometimes making the soil unsuitable for further agricultural use.

This is Andrii Bednyakov, Ukrainian tv host and a citizen of #Mariupol.
His mother passed away in the besieged city. Their apartment building was demolished. Captions are not perfect but provide the idea of how Ukrainians feel and what go through. 1/2 #RussiaIsATerroristState
His mother had health issues, she fell in coma and died. His sister managed to take their mother outside the city and burry her on occupied territory. This sister wrote: "I did not do it near our house, as the people of our yard and the whole city buried their relatives"

Exactly 8 years ago, russia began to terrorize #Mariupol.
On Jan. 24, 2015, russian troops fired Grad missiles at the Skhidniy microdistrict, as a result of which 31 people died and 117 were injured. This is the background to the mass murders of Mariupol residents in 2022. 1/4
Russian military involvement in this shelling has been established. This is another proof of the direct participation of the russian federation in the war against #Ukraine even before the start of a full-scale invasion. 2/4
Today Ukraine celebrates the Day of Unity. 💛💙

“Long live free #Ukraine” on the last picture. 1/4
As a celebration of 71st anniversary of Unification act people made a live chain on January 21, 1990, when almost three million people joined hands, connecting Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne, Zhytomyr and Kyiv. Kharkiv and Donetsk delegations came to Kyiv to join the action. 2/4
Since 2008 there is an anual action. The participants symbolically unite the banks of the Dnipro river with a live chain in Kyiv, moving towards each other in two columns - from the left bank (symbolizing the UPR) and from the right bank (symbolizing the WUPR). 3/4
