📢We are *LIVE*!📢
Excited to hear from Joe Tarbert, former criminal defense barrister & current Impact & Partnerships Manager @redemptionroast - a UK org that aims to teach and provide ex-offenders professional roastery & barista skills + have real #impact.
"We are a business with a #social impact. We provide training but also #employment for guys after they leave #prison." ... "They'll lern everything from roasting, to packaging, to delivery. They are paid for their time. And on release, connected to the employment support team."
"Guys are v. excited to get behind a coffee machine, seeing how it works, and how to make a coffee. We move away from 'theory behind coffee' to actually doing it: learning whilst doing. Guys love it. They become more confident [...] It gets competitive. But they love the process"
"Outside of the prison context, we also have training in the #community. This training is for guys and women as well, be able to learn the same skills and gain employment. We also have #at-risk populations."
"We understand that support for our guys are v important too when transitioning into employment."
RR helps guys from buying new clothes, to providing a hardship #fund, #mentalhealth support, & trauma-training programme for our retail workforce to ensure everyone is supported.
...And that's a wrap! Thank you Joe @redemptionroast for an absolutely enlightening talk!
If you missed out, not to worry. A recording will be made available soon.
