3) Avoid using toys or childhood images to represent #Autism. #Autistics are #Autistic and will remain as such. We are #DifferentNotLess. When you use toys to represent us, it infantilizes our authentic Ways of Being. Use Rainbow Infinity or Gold Infinity symbols instead
4) Always take an #Intersectional approach to understanding #AutisticTruths. We are from all faiths, cultures, gender identities and more, but our experiences are dramatically impacted by how the world sees our diverse layers of identity and whether we are multiply marginalized
5) #ListenToNonSpeakers and #PresumeCompetence Equitable access to communication methods is a human right. #CRPD Just because a human does not use #Mouthwords, it doesn’t mean they have nothing to say. #Listen
6) Remember we are NOT broken Neurotypicals. Do NOT try to make us hide our #Authentic selvesHonour our #AutisticWaysOfBeing by spending as much (or more) time & effort building an accepting school & community culture as you do trying to get us to learn your language.Learn ours.
7)Continually challenge thinking about what ‘best practice’ is by remembering that most of what educators,families & ‘specialists’ have been taught about #Autism has come from an exterior perspective historically. Instead, learn from #Autistics about OUR authentic ways of being
8) Question your biases/defaults
re: things like: communication, competence, success, social skills, equity, leadership, ‘evidence-based’… & remember those have been defined through a non-Autistic systemic lens (which has also often been behaviourist and otherwise oppressive)

9) Remember, we are the authorities on our realities. Centre the work of diverse #Autistics in all you do on this journey towards #AutisticAcceptance . Amplify our work, dig deeper into our publications & research; actively seek #AutisticTruths by hearing the #AutisticCommunity
