Hoffman asked what the NDP would modernize.

Claims under the NDP watch you could get a family doctor in a day - and points to issues of Albertans being able to get one now.

Says biggest step is taking steps to ensure everyone has a family doc.

Says health spending account could be like debit card with $375 - adds that's 10 GP visits/years, saying she doesn't think anyone would need more.

But adds NPOs could raise money to help people who need help beyond that.

2021 Smith floated idea of bringing back some form of health care premiums.

Says if you earn $75k-$150K, you would have a $500 deductible for something like a major surgery, or maybe $1000 deductible if you earn $150K+.

Adds it would allow for more transparency on health costs

2021 Smith suggested that any medical cost over $1,000 would be covered by government.

Any medical care under $1,000 would then be paid by some other combination (eg health spending account, insurance, out of pocket)

Of course, 2023 Danielle Smith issued a public health guarantee, that no Albertan would have to pay for current medical care out of pocket, pledging to keep the publicly funded system.
