Here is another judgment from the Kerala High Court that feels like a slap in the face for those following the indigenous faith in Kerala.
1/10 #Keralatwitter.com/i/web/status/1…
In a plea moved against a man to stop ritualistic animal sacrifice in a temple like structure he built at his residence, the court quoted Ambedkar: "True religious practice should be guided by reason, equality, and humanistic values rather than blind adherence to traditions.
2/10
All unhealthy, unscientific, and deleterious practices are to be prevented, even if they are done in the name of religion." I read this again to make sure I was reading it right. The court has quoted Ambedkar on a matter concerning a religious ritual.
3/10
Is Ambedkar an authority on our rituals? And what does science have to do with religious rituals? Would we now be asked not to practice rituals that are “unscientific”?
4/10
The respondent apparently maintained that he follows the Shaktheyam ritualistic method using pancha makaram, i.e., liquor, fish, meat, mudra, and midhunam.
5/10
He also contended that this is an essential part of his religious belief guaranteed under Article 25 and 26. However, these arguments did not find favor with the court.
6/10
I could understand if the court had only considered the disturbance the rituals were causing to others. However, once again, the courts feel that they can pass judgments about the rituals and practices of the majority.
7/10
I know that this judgment wouldn't really matter to most, and I'm sure people would comment that animal sacrifice should not be a part of rituals. We need to understand that the culture of this land has many practices that may or may not be understood by many.
8/10
For example, most people don't understand the life of Naga Sadhus. What they do, is a mystery to most of us! Animal sacrifice is said to be an inherent part of Shaktism tradition predominantly practiced in the South.
9/10
Courts also don't find a problem with millions of animals being sacrificed during Bakrid. Talking about disturbance to others, what about prayers blaring out through loudspeakers five times a day, declaring that a particular god is the only god? Why this double standard?

Man Arrested for Sexual Harassment in a Bus:Kerala
Savad Sha, is a name that has gained popularity in Kerala since last evening, albeit for the wrong reasons. He was arrested for misbehaving with a girl in a bus. Attached are his images from his Facebook profile.
The incident came to light after the girl, Nanditha, took to social media to talk about it and also posted a video of the incident that she herself shot. From the images, it appears that he is associated with the Muslim League of Kerala in some manner. #KeralaNews

So, this is what Nanditha narrates in her video: She was on her way from Thrissur to Kochi when Savad boarded the bus and sat on a reserved women's seat next to Nanditha. Soon, the man started touching her inappropriately.

1921 Malabar riots, Gandhi and a Malayalam Movie:
Malabar riots of 1921 often called the “Moplah rebellion” is a topic that was not discussed openly in Kerala until recently (“Moplah” is a term used to refer to Kerala Muslims)
1/36
Moplah riots have always been whitewashed by the Congress and the left historians as freedom struggle against the British. However, the reality is something else!
2/36
Any sensible society would know that reopening old wounds can only disturb the goodwill that exists in the society between various communities. Therefore, these riots were never a part of political discourse at least in the last 30-40 years.

Raghuram Rajan is back! And I must say that he has remarkable ability to stay in the headlines. A couple of months ago, he was seen walking with India's "forever future PM" Rahul Gandhi, thereby openly displaying his loyalty to the Congress. #RaghuramRajan 1/4
According to him, India is dangerously close to what he calls the "Hindu rate of growth". This is a term coined by late Indian economist Raj Krishna to refer to the slow growth rate of India during 1950-1980. Why don't you call it the "Nehruvian rate of growth" Mr. Rajan?
2/4
Why bring back a term that is outdated and is irrelevant? And how are Hindus to blame for the inefficiency of Congress? Further, the growth rate during that period was below 4%, whereas we are growing at around 7% now, and is the fastest growing major economy in the world.

Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari recently launched India's first hydrogen powered car - Toyota Mirai. The name Mirai is of Japanese origin and means "future". Green hydrogen is generated from water and will cost approximately INR 25/liter. #greenhydrogen#PositiveVibes 1/4
The car is a pilot project at the moment and the manufacturing of green hydrogen will begin in the country in a massive scale to enable India to be a nation exporting green hydrogen. Here are a few facts about this car. Watch the video as well. @nitin_gadkari#PositiveVibes

1. Toyota Mirai is India's first hydrogen-based advanced Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle.
2. Toyota Mirai can cover a distance of 845 miles without fuelling, a Guinness World Record.
3. It will take only 3-5 minutes to fill hydrogen in a car similar to petrol.
